Just was wondering why UC-Davis has so many waitlisted? Do California residents get reduced tuition at UC schools? Just curious, I live in Ohio. What is the draw that all of you are so anxiously awaiting hearing if you get off the waitlist? Good luck as you are waiting on your acceptances, sending good vibes your way.

i am not going to be accepting my spot and going to UCSB instead if that makes anybody feel better :)

haha jack, that kinda does actually. whats your major?

economics for davis, and econ and accounting at ucsb

ahhh im bio, so doesnt really help =/ oh wellio haha

I was accepted back on Tuesday (I think) and seriously still having a hard time choosing. Just concerned about the difficulties of quarter system, getting into classes I want, and if I’ll be able to graduate in four years! AHH. I really, really like Davis but those things really worry me!

2000 people said yes this year? Hmm makes sense i guess. But i wonder how many spots there were after May 1st. >.< Obviously not 2000 spots, or else they would’ve accepted everyone on May 3rd.

ahhhh so scared and worried about not getting in! My last hope is Davis, i didn’t really get accepted anywhere accept UCSC (only applied to UCs). Accept us please! D: A poor first generation student with a single parent wants innnn! >.<

I’m also not accepting my spot (Neurobiology) if that relieves any anxiety.

I sincerely wish you all the best of luck! My closest friends are going to Davis and it hurts not to be going there as well. Again, best of luck!! :)

OMG!! I went on the UCD undergraduate admissions page on Facebook and someone asked a question and this was the answer from Davis about the waitlist

Question…“s that it for the waitlist? Or is it done by waves? How are the waves organized? Sooooo nervous =x=”

Answer
“We admit by college, and we accept students off the waitlist as we have positions open up. So if we have 10 extra slots in the College of Biological Sciences, we’ll admit 10 people off the waitlist who applied to the College of Biological …Sciences. We reevaluate every application once positions open up; the waitlist is not ranked. This is our first round of acceptances off the waitlist. Whether we eventually accept more waitlist students depends on if accepted students change their mind or have their acceptance rescinded, which would open up more spots.”

I need to get in Managerial Econ!! The stats this year is making me want to cry right now. This is the only UC that’s left for me and I really want to go to UCD. Does anyone think the 2nd wave may be tomorrow or Saturday?

Maybe Saturday, or Sunday? Ppl have till the 6th to decide. So once it’s midnight, UCD will know how many more they can accept. But i’m thinking Sunday. Saturday they will make the decisions and then post them? I hope so, i don’t want to wait till next week D:

If I’m going to be accepted, then I don’t mind them taking their time but just rip off the bandage already if it’s a rejection. SDSU is cool but it’s not the school I want to go to.

I know right! Like if you’re going to reject me, do it now!

But the thing is, they have to wait till ALL the spots are filled, and right now they’re going to have a bunch of spots open after this first wave (plus some ppl get rescinded). Hope we are in the 2nd wave. I don’t think i can wait anymore. It’s stressing me out so much!

Really? It seems like a lot are accepting the offer to me but I’ll take your word for it because it’s more comforting. I didn’t think anyone can get rescinded, it seems rare but hey, if that benefits me then I’m all for it. I need to get in the 2nd wave or I’m going crazy!

Hey look, Monkey found my post on facebook. And I’m not sure if the admissions office will work on weekends, havent seen decisions from anywhere come out on a weekend

Idk really, but even if a lot are accepting, there are still a bunch that end up rejecting XD So we still have a chance. The person in charge of the UCD undergrad admissions FB page said they’re admitting by colleges >.< I should’ve chose an unpopular major and then change it after i got in D: lol maybe we’d have better chances. XD

oh that’s right! I forgot, they usually don’t work on weekends. Yeah…so at this point we will probably have to wait till maybe Monday. Oh wow lol that was you link XD well your question helped us all out a bit :D

Is Managerial Econ considered popular? I know Bio is pretty packed.

"One of seven UC campuses using a waiting list for 2011 freshman admissions, UC Davis offered a spot on a waiting list to more than 5,900 applicants. Slightly more than 2,200 chose to be on the list.

If space becomes available in the entering freshman class, some students from the waiting list will be admitted after May. Last year, UC Davis had about 1,500 students on the waiting list and offered admission to about 600. About 350 enrolled at UC Davis for fall 2010."

“This fall, UC Davis aims to enroll about 4,704 new freshmen from California and elsewhere. Last year, the campus enrolled 4,504 new freshmen.”
