Hello,
I am currently a high school senior going through the grueling and unnerving process of getting accepted/denied to college.
So far, I’ve heard back from three colleges. Have gotten into: Emerson College and University of Florida. I am waiting on hearing back from: New York University, George Washington University, American University, and University of Miami.
I won’t detail my talents and whatnot because I have gotten into two credible schools, therefore, I am very capable.
Here’s my issue with Fordham:
I applied Early Action and my application was deferred to Regular Decision. Upon that response, I was notified I was going to be placed on the waitlist. I sent an email to my admissions representative, asking what I should do to raise my chances. If I were to go to Fordham, I’d be a commuter student rather than a residential student. Could that increase my chances?
And, if I decide that I have a backup school in case Fordham doesn’t accept me, should I put in the deposit? Fordham says it will notify me before or after May 1st, which is when the deposit for most universities is due.
Please let me know what my chances are as of now
Thank you
I was in same boat but then just decided to Decline being placed on the wait list. I don’t enjoy being in limbo.
According to collegedata.com, 2,366 accepted positions on the waitlist, and 297 were offered admission. I am assuming that that information is for last year.
Try talking to someone in admissions to find out how to increase your chances of getting off the waitlist.
You should put in a deposit for another school if you have not heard by May 1 (or the deadline for the college you are interested in). Recognize that you will likely lose your deposit if you are later offered admission to Fordham and decide to enroll.
