Waitlisted and still waiting....

Waitlisted at the end of March, anyone on waitlist hear back? Have to commit to my second option by May 1st. Sitting around hoping for some good news from Tulane!

I can’t image that you will hear back on a wait list before May 1. The whole idea of the wait list is that after May 1 all the schools (including Tulane) will have a better idea of how many students are committed, that is when they turn to the wait list to fill any openings they see. Then there is a little jockeying as students come off the wait list and change their minds at the school they had committed to. Definitely send a deposit to another school and keep your fingers crossed that you will come off the wait list.

My son is waiting as well. He did get another email from Tulane the other day however, asking him again if he still wished to remain on the Wait-list. He was instructed to log on and fill out the form again saying he was accepting a position on the Wait-list, like he had when he was first wait-listed last month. It did make us wonder if something could be imminent, one way or another. We sent an email to the contact person but they never replied.

Guess we also wait and wonder, and in the meantime, put a deposit at another school.

same here, asking to stay on list. Putting deposit down on May 1st at another school, that will probably be the end of the waiting on TU!

According to this, they are not planning on admitting waitlisted students

Yes. That’s what they said in their email as well. Best wishes. I’m sure you’ll do great at your chosen school.

Frank Bruni of the NY Times recently wrote a book entitled “Where You Go Is Not What You’ll Be: An Antidote to the College Admissions Mania.”

I’ve heard really good things about it but I haven’t personally gotten around to it yet. Gotta love the title and, better yet, you should keep it in mind as you move forward. Kick butt wherever you wind up!
