<p>If one is waitlisted at competitive schools during the freshman admission process, is that an advantage when trying to transfer to the same schools as a sophomore? I'm sure it's a good thing to show you're still interested.</p>

<p>i don't know the exact logic behind it. </p>
<p>several things come to mind:
-they like giving a chance to people that never had a chance to apply. intrinsically, transferring is more of a late first chance, than a second chance.
-there is a reason why they waitlisted/rejected someone the first time around. if they really wanted that person, they could have looked past two Bs and 50 points on the verbal section.
-applying again might suggest that you went off to college with the idea of transferring in mind, which is never a good thing</p>
