Waitlisted...any advice/hope?

Hi, I was a RD Brandeis University applicant for the class of 2017. I was wait listed, and I’m disappointed, but I’m trying to say hopeful and positive. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me on the wait list process. Brandeis was one of my top choice schools, and the schools I’m waiting on are all more selective than Brandeis (Tufts, Princeton, Dartmouth). I know Princeton and Dartmouth are not going to happen, but is there any chance I could still be accepted to Tufts?

Here are my stats:

GPA: 98.7/100 (unweighted)
I think I’m ranked about 3rd or 4th in a class of about 120.
I attend a top high school (semi private) located in Maine.

AP’s: completed-AP BIO (5), AP LIT (5)
taking-AP CALC BC, AP HUMAN GEO, AP CHEM, AP ENG LANG

SAT’s (superscored): 710 M, 700 CR, 680 W
SAT II: 770-Biology (M), 690-Lit
ACT’s (only self-reported): 31

EC’s:
Field hockey for 4 years (on varsity for 3), co-captain my last year
(Academic all-state also)
Violin lessons since 2004
4 year member of school’s orchestra group
3 year member of Key Club (co-secretary this year)
3 year member of student environmental action committee
2 year member of math team
Volunteered at the local hospital for 2 summers (over 100 hours total)
NHS for 1 year
Lots of school service, etc.

Work experience: Tim Horton’s Team Member for 1 and 1/2 years.

Application quality:
Everyone who read my common app essay said it was really good. My English teacher said it was one of the best he’d received that year. Now, I’m doubtful because it was risky and kinda unique.

So, I guess I have two questions:

 1. Can I still get accepted at Tufts?
 2. Is there any hope for me at Brandeis?

Any advice is appreciated. I’m getting a little desperate…

Edit: I interviewed, and my interviewer said he gave me the highest recommendations. Also, I’m not Jewish or religious at all. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

jlesk,18, Let me bgin by saying that im shocked that you didnt get in with those stats. I read on another post that someone got in from the waitlist on May 3rd, so once others send in, or dont send in their acceptances, by may 1st,you have a chance. I would recommend sending them something that lets them know you"re continued interest. maybe your guidance counselor can call as well and ask is there anything new you can send in? good luck!!

Thanks for the positive comments! It’s been really hard, obviously, especially since I found out at work and I had to pretend like nothing was wrong for a whole 3 hours.

I already accepted my place on the wait list with a short statement of interest. I’ll be sending my 3rd quarter grades depending on what happens with my other schools and possibly another letter outlining my interest.
Do you happen to know if financial aid awards are limited for those accepted off the wait list?

Sorry, I cant help you with the financial aid question. why dont you call and ask?

Just out of curiosity, where did you end up getting accepted? You have amazing credentials (better than mine) yet I’ll be going to Brandeis this year. Pretty shocking…
