Portal was changed today to reflect acceptance on the waitlist and states decision will be sent after May 1.

anyone hear anything yet? with May 1st being two days away I’m hoping it’s very soon! been thinking of all my “friends” on the list and thinking good thoughts!

Anxiously waiting, no updates yet, My D did everything she can to try to help her chance get off the waitlist! Our fingers are crossed

My daughter decided to decline her offer of admission today; good luck to all on the waitlist at U Del!

Hopefully by next week (if not sooner) we will begin to hear about students being accepted off the wait list. Good luck to all those still waiting. Please let us know if you plan on accepting the offer or plan on attending elsewhere.

Any Updates?

Waitlist in April. Received email today-rejected.

Same @Hobbit85 disappointed by the promising letter that came with the waitlisting.

I’m so sorry to hear @hobbit85 and @hockeydad223. I was so hopeful to hear of names coming off the waitlist in a positive way. What schools will you attend? I wish you both the best of luck.

hobbit85 and Hockeydad:
Sorry to hear about the negative results. It looks like we have yet to hear of anyone accepted off the waitlist. Perhaps a higher number of applicants who where initially accepted have decided to attend so maybe the number they will be taking off the waitlist will be lower than in past years. Good luck in the schools you/your children will be attending. There is always the future possibility of attempting to transfer to UD if they continue to have an interest in attending UD and do well in the school they will be attending. Many students have been successful in doing so in the past. Again best of luck.

just talked to my mom… one of her co workers children was on the WL as well and got the same email.

UD offered the waitlist option to start in the spring semester. Any thoughts on when they will notify students who expressed interest in this option?

I thought some here may find this interesting. A UDaily article dated May 7th states the following:

Provost Domenico Grasso updated senators on admissions and offered a look at the Class of 2018.

“We have had an exciting conclusion to our admissions season this year,” Grasso said. “Our yield of non-resident students is up from 18 percent to 21 percent. We have over 4,200 deposits, and we hope to matriculate 4,060 students, which is 185 students over our target of 3,875 students.”

that’s a very confusing statement. I guess they are expecting some of those 4200 to drop out if they are on waitlists at other schools? Looks like there will be quite a few triples this fall!

It looks like almost a 17% increase (18% to 21%) in acceptances with deposits from OOS applicants. I guess the word is starting to get around about the quality of education offered at UD. Unfortunately not a good sign for students placed on the waitlist. Has anyone heard of anyone accepted yet off the waitlist? Perhaps they are waiting to see how many of those 4200 who have submitted deposits decide to go elsewhere. Just a wild guess.

@mwallenmd… this was my fear for the waitlist. we are up to 13 attending from our high school. The last 5 years we have sent 1-3 kids each year. Such a huge spike this year. I am very curious to read our end of year report from guidance to see how many of the 75 applied they accepted.

My girlfriend’s daughter received the same decline email and when they called the school- they were told that they would not be accepting any students off the wait list due to all the acceptances. That would make sense based on the deposit statement above but does sound crazy. I am an alumni and its a great school and although my son choose Clemson over UD , his girlfriend is attending Delaware and we are thrilled for her. Good luck all!!

This is really amazing. In the 7 years I have been involved with UD I have never seen no one taken in off the waitlist. I feel really bad for those who were hoping the opposite. Good luck wherever you will be attending.
