:(

Welcome to the waitlist boat.

lets start a support group

Deferred and now waitlisted. This sucks…

lol, my 3rd waitlist after Tulane, WUSL.

me too, me too

My first waitlist =[

But I’m okay about it. Lets keep hope!

1st waitlist here.

I almost thought I was rejected when I read the line “Although the Committee has decided not to offer you admission at …”

Anyways, I was waitlisted too! Honestly, I’m just glad I wasn’t flat-out rejected.

Yay! Waitlisted!!!

I’m kinda tired of getting denied by UC, so this is really nice.

^Ahh ab2013, at least we can keep some semblance of hope until they close the wait list (and maybe even get in!!)

I’m actually quite content…now I can at least concentrate on my other choices and if some miracle happens, and I get accepted then I will be happy.

And if not, there is always transferring!

Hey AB- I’ll write you an additional letter of rec if you’ll write me one! :p

I’ll join the club. My second WL after WashU.

^butternut …

Gracello just said that they randomly select waitlistees on May 4th … and the letter said the average rate is 8%.

So much for hope. :(

It’s okay. I’m content with going to UMich.

Sort of.

My D is also waitlisted ! so far 3 acceptances 1 waistlisted!!! ok… now what is the deal?? what do we have to do??? i think she is gonna wait until all results are out, and after that take a decision and maybe talk to her councelor… what is the process when you are waitlisted? someone knows??

Hey guys, a few words on the waitlist- some students have the idea that schools rank the students on their waitlist – i.e., if the UofC comes in underenrolled, and you stay on the waitlist, you’re #1, and would be the first to receive an offer for an open spot. NOT TRUE HERE! In fact, our waitlist is UNRANKED, so there is no pre-set order in which we would issue admit offers to waitlisted students who chose to remain ON the list. Basically, you can’t be “high” or “low” on the waitlist, you can just be on or off of it.
If you choose to remain ON the list, you should submit final grades if possible, and anything else you feel may provide useful information. BUT. Do not send anything extraneous- your biology project is not going to cut it. Final grades, if you get them, are useful, but not much beyond that. You cannot have an interview, or anything like that.

What exactly can one do to get off the waitlist?

"Dear Richard:

The Committee on Admissions has carefully considered your application for admission to the University of Chicago, Class of 2013. Although the Committee has decided not to offer you admission at this time, we have placed your name on an unranked waiting list. Over the past five years, between one and twenty-nine percent of those students who accepted a place on the waiting list were offered admission (with the average for that same period being eight percent). "

Join in the club…

Will additional rec letter be extraneous?

Yes, that would be extraneous. Basically, grades are the only thing they are interested in seeing.
