If you do not want to remain on the waitlist, do nothing. Active acceptance of the place on the waitlist is what keeps you on.

Deferred. Now waitlisted. I’m not complaining… I’m going to accept the spot and work my ass off for final grades.

Oh well.

Waitlisted.

■■■.

Waitlisted.

Pretty disappointed but still love Chicago…

Does UChicago even reject anyone? It seems like everyone was either accepted or waitlisted…

Yeah some people were rejected in the other thread.

alright guys, lets post some stats

waitlisted
act: 28
excellent extra curr
rank: 9/997
gpa: 4.21
questbridge finalist

this might be a stupid question…but please humor me

chicago has the highest acceptance rate out of all the schools that i have applied to…since i’ve been waitlisted here…does this mean that i will be rejected from all my other schools? i’m scared i’ll have to go to my state school (rutgers)

of course not! Chicago applicants are extremely self selected, and they truly do look at fit!

Every school looks for different things. One might put concentration on EC, others GPA, some SAT scores, or essays. Keep your hopes up! Plus you have to remember that UChicago is self-selective. They don’t have nearly as many applicants applying for the sake of applying (that is evident elsewhere).

k, i’ll keep that in mind…thx guys

Still can’t help thinking what the hell I did wrong. =/

Worst part is my grades this semester isn’t going to be better than first semester…sigh

I really loved UChicago…

Waitlisted here too. Disappointing, but I’ve gotten into three other schools and I’m still waiting to hear from my top choice (Wellesley). Still, kind of a punch in the gut.

this is going to sound like a very dumb question, but accepting a spot on the waitlist is NOT binding in any way or form right?

Waitlisted

3.8 weighted gpa at challenging private school (does not calculate unweighted)
34 act
2220 sat (750 cr, 780 math, 690 writing superscored)
average extra cirriculars. one varsity sport. recs should be decent. essays, average to above average.

Me too. I won’t stay on the wait list, as I was accepted to my two other top schools. That, and while I love UChicago, I did have some reservations.

Good luck to everyone else, and I hope you all end up where you want to be! :]

Would anyone happen to know the average number of students who get waitlisted?

is accepting a spot on the waitlist binding??? ^^^^(same question as live …)

Deferred EA, now waitlisted…

Ugh, whatever. I honestly don’t even care anymore, because it’s so needlessly expensive. Yeah, UChicago was my dream school a few months ago, but now that I have a chance to go somewhere else with a full scholarship, I’d rather not put my parents through $200K in debt.

My dad still wants me to accept the waitlist spot though…
