Well know that decisions are out, some of us have been doomed to even more waiting and uncertainty. Thought I’d make a thread that we can post stats in and maybe see how many people actually got waitlisted and for what school and who is accepting. It’s going to be a long couple of months.

Do anyone know what to send to the admissions to restate my interest in attending Boston College? On their website it says: " The only new information considered would be your most recent grades, so please have your most recent grades sent to us." Does that mean supplementary material shouldn’t be sent? I’m kind of confused and any help is appreciated!
@NewportHSSenior - What we would like is an e-mail from you stating your continued interest in BC. Then, we don’t ask anything from you until the end of April or very beginning of May, once again stating your interest in BC after you have deposited at another institution. No waitlist information will be available until after May 1. More recommendations, writing samples, or supplementary materials – beyond updated grades – are not requested.
@NewportHSSenior- You should send a letter to BC stating that if you get off of the wailist, you will definitely attend. Also, send in any new awards you have received since applying and send in your most recent grade report. Good luck to you! BC will start pulling from their waitlist after May 1st.
Your letter of continuing interest should express your on-going intention to attend Boston College if an offer were to be extended. Remember that your letter is NOT intended to be a second application to the University, but does offer an opportunity to divulge new and significant events from the last six months since your application was filed. (Examples would include new grades, community awards, and regional or national awards.)
This is my first College Confidential post since May 2013 and I thank NewportHSSenior for reaching out over the CC Messaging System for additional information. Also, my very best to contributors bluebayou and jpm50 along with many others for their continuing contributions to the forum.
@DevlinHall208, @scottj, @dreambig101 Thank you so much for your input! Your advice definitely helped answer some of my questions and I am eager to show what I can bring to Boston College.
Scottj, it’s great to see you back! To those on the waitlist, good luck. The advice given above is spot on. The extent to which BC goes to the waitlist depends on the yield for those already accepted. I think BC does go to the waitlist every year, to varying degrees.
is it a good idea to let the school know that I will accept a spot in BC but in a different school? i applied to CSOM and got waitlisted, and i know csom is one of the more selective school,so i was wondering if its a good idea to let them know that if theres spot in another school, say CAS, i will attend.
Dear xxxviv : Your application was evaluated against the CSOM pool and has absolutely NOT been examined in the light of a CAS, CSON, or LSOE pool of candidates. Effectively, changing schools before an acceptance is viewed as a different application.
It is an interesting question as to whether your CSOM application is “weakened” by offering a follow-up letter stating “I’ll take CAS if you have no room in CSOM”. On the one hand, it underscores your passion for Boston College, but also indicates that perhaps your true interest in business is weak. In this particular case, I would recommend calling your admissions counselor as opposed to expressing a willingness to accept any position in an e-mail. This is a conversation that must be held person-to-person.
Finally, an open note to all CC Boston College Readers : If you currently are waitlisted and have sent your letter of continued interest, you have done everything possible to elevate your application with Boston College. It is extremely important for both the applying student and their family to move their attention to their listing of successful applications - now given that we are at the end of March. While a waitlist placement is not a final negative vote, students should work on the assumption that their application to Boston College will be unsuccessful in order to devote their full attention as to where the May 1st deposit should be made.
@DevlinHall208 hi, I was wondering if the admissions committee prefers to read physically mailed letters or emails? And also, I know it is not required or even asked for, but, will sending an additional letter of recommendation be okay or is it frowned upon? Both the letters I sent to BC are teachers, I’d like to send a letter from someone who knows me on a much more personal level and has a connection to the school.
Dear ocomea15 : Unless this letter of recommendation offers new information on a substantial level, pressing your case with another letter will not help. From reading your text, one might conclude that you did not put enough thought into your letters of recommendations to start and that will come across with another one being offered now. E-mails and postal mails are treated equally. If you really want to make a play for a final reference, either your principal or district superintendent should be making the final call to your admissions counselor. Unless you bring substantial weight to a final recommendation, it will read like the others. Again, only you can make the call as to what is substantially different in having one more reference offered.
I am on the wait list. Really want to go to BC. Also new to this all of course. Since the admissions people are busy with the RD admissions should I send a letter in right away or wait to later in April to write?. I realize I should place myself on the waiting list but I am asking about when to send my letter of interest. Also should I send it to my regional admissions person or direct to the admissions office? Thanks for all your answers along the way.
