DevlinHall208, how does the overcrowding of dorms manifest itself in upper class years? Do you have any sophomores how are in a “forced triple”? Also, do you feel at all like you are treating WL kids as 2nd class citizens since they were not given the same shot at “normal” housing as the RD kids?
Thanks. Very helpful. I’m less concerned about paying 60G’s for the privilege of a forced triple as the effect it will have on my kids freshman experience. You bond quickly with the kids around you, and an unknown move could be a downer. Also my child is “plus sized” which will add some complications.
@whr2go15 There are no forced triples after freshman year. Housing options for sophomores, juniors, and seniors include a huge number of options – doubles, quads, six-mans, eight-mans that are set up in a variety of traditional format, suite style, and apartment style.
Our desire to be able to house all students on campus is in motion (85% of all students can live on campus at one time); however, we find it more important to give all first-year students on-campus housing, even if it means the forced triple setup. Instead of telling incoming students they need to find an apartment or study abroad, realities for a number of major universities, keeping them in the freshman housing is of the utmost importance. The line for a forced triple room must begin for the fluid number of students enrolling from the wait list every cycle, and building from that finite number. We do not feel as if this is marginalizing a population, as they are still on campus in the same dormitories as every other first-year student; further, the number of students in a forced triple exceeds those who are admitted from the wait list, so it is not as if every student knows that if you are in a forced triple you were taken from the wait list. Finally, the reason we include this in the wait list offer letter is so families can make the most informed decisions possible.
Thanks DevlinHall208. Unfortunately, looks like my child will be making the choice mostly based on how uncomfortable/awkward their first year would be.
Actually, housing is very good for soph, junior (if 4 years housing/and or study abroad), and senior years. This is also one reason why so many seniors choose to live on campus their last year. 2150 Commonwealth is underway and slated to be done in 2016 which will add approx. 490 beds http://at.bc.edu/webcams/2150commonwealthavenue/ and then 2000 Commonwealth is next, so not long.
Really appreciate the commentary on this.

If you’re equating a triple to an uncomfortable or awkward first year, and if that will be a deciding factor on if your child will attend BC, your child is making a huge mistake.
Thank you Devlin for that helpful info. Would you say that all WL students end up on upper, and in a triple? Does Newton even have triples? My son is still on the wait list, hoping to hear☺️
Whr2go15—Where has your child deposited?
@JerseyMomma also waiting, hope with both get some good news soon!
rpm50 Mistake in which direction - going, or not going?
JerseyMomma our child has deposited with a school within 10 places of BC on the USNews list
Has anyone gotten your financial aid award notification uploaded to the portal yet? The tab is there, but when we click on it we get: “You currently do not have an award notification to view.”
If possible, do you think you could give us an estimate as to when we can expect the financial aid award notifications for those accepted from the WL to be up? Wondering if they’ll be up before the weekend. Thanks so much! Your input is greatly appreciated.
@whr2go15 Are you going to decline BC offer? What school did your child apply to CAS CSOM?
@JerseyMomma - If a student is in a forced triple, they will live on Upper Campus. Newton Campus does not have forced triples.
@Liana330 It’s possible those who have all financial aid documents already in will receive a package, which is posted on Agora Portal, tomorrow. More likely early next week. We encourage to view your financial aid checklist to confirm all documents have been received.
Massmom2015 not sure yet
Thanks so very much! Great to have that info. All of our paperwork has been in, with no missing documents, so now we will wait. Just a little more waiting. Thanks for being so helpful on this thread!
@whr2go15 What ever you decide will be right for you, best of luck!

It would be a mistake not to attend BC just because of a triple. Aside from many enjoying their triples or the friendships that can come from it, BC is so much more than a slight housing inconvenience freshman year.
