This is my first post on the parents forum. I had a question: I was waitlisted as a transfer student and I'm trying to pursue the waiting list. Would it be worth it to contact my regional representative? If so, any recommendations on what I should say?

Some schools have a Transfer rep in the Admissions Office. I think, if I were you, I would contact that person (or the regional rep if there isn't one) and ask for information on #WL/# usually admitted from the WL (if you don't already have it), and ask what s/he suggests might be additional info which could help you succeed in getting off the WL.

Unfortunately, I have had not had much luck in the transfer process. I've heard back from three places out of four so far, and of the three I was denied by two and waitlisted by one. Confusing enough, I was waitlisted by my top choice and the one I predicted I'd be rejected from.

I guess this has proven that transferring is even more of a crapshoot than high school admissions.

meyer1b, I sympathize. It is certainly true that when you are aiming for uber-selective schools (such as I think you were targetting), the transfer process is no easier and may be harder than freshman admissions. Since you didn't have (I don't think) a "safety" transfer school, then I hope that continuing at your current school is a viable option for you.

I do think you can take some steps to see if you can get off the wait list. But you need to have a plan you can count on, without lottery-type odds, that will work for you if the WL admission doesn't come through.
