<p>So a little more than a week ago, i emailed SLO telling them that they’re my first choice and I’m willing to turn down a scholarship (21k at st johns university) to attend, and also updating them on some of my recent accomplishments and activities. I never received a response from them, but I heard that SLO will forward my email to admissions, and they will take this into account. I was wondering if you think this email will help me get off the waitlist, and if I should call them about it.</p>

<p>I would call them, I did that and got off of the waitlisted by next week.

<p>I just called (a day right after I got in waitlisted) and WAS ABOUT to send them an email. When I was about to hit a send button, I received an email of acceptance. :). So good luck!!!</p>
<p>Hey FremontCA, did you call this year? And what did you say when you called? Did you just tell them that they were your top choice and you would definitely go there if you were accepted or did you ask them some questions to lead into the topic and stuff?</p>

<p>@Bigleap: Yes and among order questions also. I asked them about did they do ranking system for the waitlisted students. Then he said no!!, then I asked what were statistics for students who got off the waitlisted and got accepted. He said “It’s really low percentage, some year even none of students got off from wait listed”. After I heard that, I was so sad. Then I asked last question was anything that I could do to get me off the wait list, like sending a letter to a dean of college or admission, or even appeal. He said there nothing you can do blah blah balh… But I did write my letter anyway, I was about to hit send button, then I got my acceptance letter. So that what I did :).</p>
