Waitlisted at Case?

my D was also offered spring semester. So one more option open for consideration.

Already???

I think I would ask what the orientation for Spring students is like, where they will be housed (with freshman or sprinkled where there are slots), how will they get integrated with other freshman, and what would the curriculum be for those starting in spring( if you would usually take Circuits in the fall, do they offer it in the spring or how would you rearrange curriculum)

I think they offer the spring semester because in the past you are the students they would have admitted off the waitlist

Are they actually offering spots in the spring? Or are they asking if people want to be considered for the spring? Also can you take the spring off and start next fall when the regular group starts?

@MomLA2018 yes, spring spots are guaranteed and you have until 5/5 to decide.

@fhlzsn so that means we weren’t accepted if we weren’t notified today or…?

Lol im getting so anxious rn this is the only school left for me

Would you mind sharing the email (less personal info) we can share with next year’s students?

I am writing with a very important update regarding your application for admission to Case Western Reserve University. We have been closely monitoring the responses to our initial offers of admission, and we do not yet know whether we will be able to offer additional places in the class from our wait list for the fall semester.

However, while it is still possible we could have room to offer you admission for the fall of 2019, I am very happy to inform you that you are being offered admission for the spring semester of 2020. Official notice will be in your applicant portal in the coming days, but I wanted to let you know as quickly as possible about this exciting opportunity.

As a spring admit, you would join the University in January of 2020 as a first-year student. Housing is guaranteed. During the fall, you are free to pursue a variety of options, such as work, travel, internships, community service, or taking courses as a non-matriculated (non-degree) student at another college or university.

We will ask you to accept your offer of admission for the spring of 2020 by May 5, 2019. Accepting your offer would not remove you from consideration for the fall should space become available, but it will secure your place at Case Western Reserve starting next January.

Again, watch for an announcement in the coming days to view your updated status in your applicant portal for the official offer of admission.

I look forward to welcoming you to CWRU. If you have any questions, please contact me at robert.mccullough@case.edu or call the admission office at 216.368.4450.
Best regards,

Bob

Thanks, @DSOF20192023

Well, I did not get off the CWRU waitlist, but I did get off from UCSD waitlist. Gonna head there next year. I wish all of you the best luck!

I’m assuming the Spring admission offer went to students who indicated they would definitely attend if accepted - is this the case?

@Trixy34 we only indicated we were interested and will be considered for the Fall when spaces are opened up after 5/1.

I indicated that and didn’t receive anything

@fhlzsn - thanks. I was just curious. The last email I got was on 4/19. My son must have either stopped responding or took himself off the waitlist.

they increased amount of merit scholarships in the official offer.

Really? That doesn’t sit well with me. I understand why they rely on the waitlist, and at least they are upfront about their process, but it’s still frustrating. We’ve moved on - not to a better school, but to a school that has shown us some love.

What I don’t like about that letter is that it does not guarantee the kids who accept this Spring admission by May 5th WILL BE the first to be offered Fall admission, if they offer it all. It kinda seems like it from the letter, but what if kids accept this Spring and then a wave of Fall admissions off WL are given to people who didn’t check off the box. I hope they wouldn’t do that, but if I was offered this, I would talk to admissions before accepting. Find out if this puts you in the front line for Fall or it only guarantees you Spring and nothing more.

And honestly, I would still hold a deposit on another school if Fall admission is the only thing you really want.

Did anyone hear today or nah?

I feel like chances are slim since a good chunk may have gotten the offer
