I am completely shocked that I got wait listed. I have close to a 4.0 at a top 15 university. I have SATs that exceed the average at Dartmouth. I have strong e.c.s and PLUS, i never applied to D-mouth before.

the letter I got was the following:

The Transfer Committee has completed the review of applications for admission, and we have placed your name on the waiting list. If additional places become available, we will review your application immediately. You are encouraged to remain on the waiting list if Dartmouth continues to be of interest to you.

In selecting students, we were guided by the exceptional competition for available places. The competition among applicants for the waiting list was also very rigorous; each of these students has demonstrated qualities that would lead to success and contribution at Dartmouth. If there is space after May 22, students will be chosen from the waiting list to achieve the balance and academic strength sought in the entering class.

At this time the waiting list is not ranked; therefore, it is difficult to predict your chances for admission. I would appreciate hearing from you, as soon as possible, about your college plans. Please visit our waiting list candidates' page to learn more about the waiting list and to reply to our offer of a place on the list. Your prompt response is important to us and to other candidates. We will try to reach a final decision about your candidacy as soon after May 22 as possible. In the meantime, you should secure a place in another college even if you do decide to wait to hear from us. I hope the next few weeks go well for you.

I'm sorry to hear this. Were your recommendations good, what about your EC's? Did your essay include reasons for wanting to transfer to Dartmouth? Those are very important factors when applying to transfer.

which top 15 university if you don't mind?

does appear to be somewhat strange but not uncommon. if you are from columbia - then not being a direct acceptance into darthmouth is odd, i have to admit, with your stats.

no offense, but no one deserves anything, so you can't assume that you will get in. Besides, tons of people apply for very few transfer spots so the chances are next to nil to start, and there are surely a number of people in your spot.

You know what I bet happened? There's only like 35 transfer spots at Dartmouth. They probably gave most of them away to people with "connections" etc. Leaving nothing for us transfer students.

Forget about 'em. I'm horribly mad at Dartmouth for not giving anyone on CC admission. So many good candidates.
