Hey guys,
I am waitlisted at UC Davis (i wont hear from them till may), and that is my first choice school. I have already submitted my SIR to UCR, and i am getting ready to either go there or UC davis.

SInce i am waitlisted to davis (i will prob go there if i get in b/c it is closer to home), do you think that i should submit my housing contract to UCR, or will it be really hard for me to get out of it if i want to go to Davis?

im sorry for not being clear in this post, i am kinda stressing out about this, because i want to get into a good dorm in UCR if i dont get into Davis, so i want to submit housing asap.

Thank you!

Good question. You may consider calling the school.

I’m pretty sure you can back out of the housing contract, you just lose your deposit. For some, that is worth it.

I believe if you’ve submitted your SIR to UCR you cannot register to another UC campus.
At least this was the information provided to me when I registered.

Nikkibee, you are correct, once a student has submitted their SIR to a certain campus, they will no longer be allowed to submit another intent of registration for another UC campus. Ferarri1993, you might as well submit your housing contract because you are no longer eligible to SIR to any other campuses.

You need to submit your SIR and housing contract for another college. Since you are wait-listed there is no guarantee you will get in. Even on the FAQ for the wait-list it states to send in your SIR. I am also in the same position as you…wait-listed at Davis :(. I called UC Davis to find out about whether i need to turn in the housing contract or not they said I should (i told them my alternative was UCSC). The admission person said if you do you might lose the deposit of the housing contract (SIR you will not get refunded) and if possible try submitting the deposit for the housing contract late as possible maybe if possible till you find out about UC Davis. Though if you are planning to go to UC Riverside and want one of the popular dorms you should send it in fast. I mean yes there is money loss but it isn’t an insanely large amount.

You can cancel your other SIR/contract stuff if Davis accepts you and you want to go there instead.

FutureEE is correct, you can cancel your SIR. You will just lose the fee if you already paid.

dammnnn,
thanks everyone!

and DarkPrince, not too sound rude, but you are wrong, if i were somehow to get into davis (i really hope that this happens), i would have to withdraw my UCR SIR (no refund) and put in a SIR to Davis

FutureEEMajor - i hope that we get in!! a couple of my other friends are got into davis, and i reallyy want to go there. I have a question though, do you know when exactly we will get waitlist results, on the UC davis website, it says in april, but ive heard from some other sources that we get them as soon as davis gets the time to go through them. Do you happen to know when we get the results? im getting uneasy here

And for loosing the SIR and housing contract $, i think my parents would rather loose the money and send me to davis rather than going down to riverside

People who have accepted the wait-list will hear form Davis after May 1 but no later than June 1. Though personally I check my portal everyday since maybe they just happen to decide to release early and don’t forget Davis has the whole you have three days after they update to accept or decline the offer.

Good Luck To You ^_^

Also on another thread someone posted something like there were 5000 people last year who got onto the wait-list and of that 1500 accepted the wait-list and form that 600 got and from that 350 enrolled so don’t be too uneasy, 40% (assuming that person had the correct info).

Sorry Ferrari1993, in a way I was wrong, I talked with representatives at the Registrar and they stated that you still cannot submit SIR for another campus (as I previously said) until you cancel it for the original campus. And if you cancel you will lose the deposit for the SIR. Best of luck to you.
