waitlisted at g-town

whats the best thing to do about it? before i didnt care if i got rejected, but now i really want to go there. i plan on visiting the school now and possibly writing a letter, but is there anything else i can/should do? thankss :-)

Were you waitlisted or deferred? I thought they didn't waitlist people until after RD decisions??

waitlisted... i already got my regular decision yesterday. i didnt apply early action.

what??? snowgirl are you serious? i applied to georgetown............ did they really already send out decisions?

Writing a letter and visiting is a GREAT idea. But don't just go on and on about how pretty it is, talk about how it is a match for YOU. Also send in your frst sememester grades if you haven't already as well as your recent quarter grades, even if they're not on your transcript. BTW, do you mind posting your stats? I'm applying next year.

okay panic over... are you an nhs applicant? if so, it sucks that you were waitlisted, but at least you still have a chance! definitely follow summerskter's advice....... i was deferred andi did similar stuff, but i obviously haven't received my decision so we'll see.

yeah no worries... 50% of waitlisted people can still get in. true im NHS.
my major is international health.

im actually not an extremely glamorous applicant: 94.5 gpa, 710 math, 570 (yikes!) verbal, 710 us history, 700 chem, 660 math i, 8 ap's, model un president, numerous key club positions, high leadership skills, 300+ volunteer hours, summer cancer research in boston, fluent/proficient/literate in bengali/spanish/arabic

if theres anything i could change, it wouldve been to start the app earlier than the beginning of january, put the app together nicer, visit the school and get to know the students/faculty and do 'early action'.

carpe-- do you know the stats for deferred candidates in the regular round? all the best to you and everyone else:-)

umm im a little confused what your question is... do you mean the % of deferrees who are accepted? they said on the deferral letter that last year they accepted 15% of the deferees... but i don't think that applies to waitlists. if you want the stats of people who were deferred from EA, check out the georgetown page, but im not sure how many nhs people will be on there. hope this helps!

Oh my god. There is no hope for me if someone like you got wait-listed. My GPA is much lower (4.0 scale), and you have some great extracurriculars. I'm surprised that someone like you got wait-listed. I'm not quite sure what NHS is, though.

NHS is just one of Georgetown's college. The acronym stands for Nursing and Health Studies.

only 15%? cringes aren't EA kids higher quality candidates?

aw thank you summerskter! well my verbal score likely killed me. so i understand what made me less qualified... i mean they can only accept 20ish% anyway.
