waitlisted at my safety school.

I really don't understand this.

This one teacher who I'm very close with told me to apply to Suffolk U as a safety, because they'd give me a decent scholarship, her best friend went there on a full ride. I got deferred.

Their verbal midrange is 440-550 I have a 580.
Their math midrange is 450-550 and I have a 630.
Average GPA: 3.0 Mine: 3.2 (with an upward trend 2 honors classes and 2 APs)

Also, I have 1000 hours of volunteer work and what I believe to be a really good essay and great recommendations.

I just don't understand why I was deferred. Anyone have any thoughts?

Oh, I forgot to mention, 2 years ago someone from my school got in with a 2.2

It happens, there must have been something in your essay and recommendations that they didn't like, stats are one thing, but character matters too.

They might have deferred you because they don't think that you really want to go to their school, or because you didn't show much interest.

yea it happens...it sucks that you had well above sat scores and you got deferred.....lots of college admissions nowadays seem to be crap shoots.
