I was recently waitlisted at northwestern. I know they had a huge applicant pool this year but i think i am still qualified to attend. I have a 32 ACT score, took three AP classes this year (Calc, Bio, Chem) out of six offered at my school. My class rank is 4 out of 290. I have sent a letter to northwestern expressing my continued interest and an updated official fourth term transcript. Two students from my school are attending there. One is second in our class with a 34 ACT and the other applied ED.

Just wondering what my chances are based on academic stats, the letter and the two that were already accepted. My potential major is pre med and pol science.

You never know. I, too, was waitlisted - it sucks. I would say it’s really out of your hands at this point. Get excited about your other options, and hope for the best.

Yea, I was waitlisted as well. There’s nothing you can do at this point. Just send in your waiting list card and hope for the best. I wish you the best of luck.

I was waitlisted too and haven’t heard back still so I figure they’re not going to their waitlist, or if they are going it’ll be later than usual

Your chances are pretty slim. Northwestern has a good pool of committed students this year, and while your stats are outstanding on a global scale, they are just decent by Northwestern standards.

BTW, your potential major is not pre med. There is no such major.

These schools have wait lists bigger than the incoming class in some cases. Love a college you got into. It could happen, but move on and don’t count on it, especially when two are already attending from your HS. They have huge lists so they can fill out the demographics when they see who declines their offer and your HS sounds covered.

Most kids who apply to top schools are qualified to attend, unfortunately that’s only one of many considerations.
