i just got my waitlist letter from NYU. i applied to stern with intended major: fiance. my gpa was around 3.5-3.6 UW, and my SAT was 2180. i had a lot of EC's, and i thought my essays were pretty solid. my friend who had both a lower GPA and SAT score than me got in. can someone tell me this is a joke???? nyu was my top choice. i feel horrible :(

did anyone else get waitlisted and feel as if you didnt deserve it? what are my chances of getting off the wait list? how will this affect me financial aid-wise and housing-wise if i do get in?

Your chances of getting off are slim. Many end up taking the acceptance to NYU Stern but there’s a slight bit of hope.

Financial aid-wise and housing… won’t matter. Same package anyway. NYU will meet your full need (maybe not the way you want them to) but they will.

I got waitlisted at NYU Gallatin and now I can’t help but wonder if I should have applied for CAS instead.

Eh, NYU is expensive and many admitted students don’t choose to attend for that reason. If you’re ok with crappy financial aid, you might as well get in.

Hi, dont mean to make u feel any worse or anythng but i actually got into NYU with much lower stats than yours scratching head dunno y, but i declined the admission (its way too expensive plus im international) so im sure ul get pulled off the waitlist soon. :)

A kid I know wrote on his application something like: “I don’t know much about economics or business since I plan on becoming a doctor. But Stern is a really great school and if you take a chance on me, I’m sure I’ll end up liking business.”

He got in (xDDDDD!!) and he’ll be attending next year.
