I just checked my MyPennState status and it said I was wait listed for 2014 fall UP. I called the Admissions office and they say I should receive a letter with more info in a few days. I was curious if anyone has been accepted off their waitlist, and what my chances are of getting off. In previous year PSU has accepted 70-80% off waitlist which is HUGE, but there was an increase In the applicant pool this year. Second, what can I do to increase my chances of acceptance?

What is your GPA weighted and UW, SAT/ACT, and are you in state

Penn State, for the past 2 years according to their common data set did not utilize a wait list, so I don’t know where those statistics are coming from

I just received the decision today on the website staying I had been waitlisted. I am absolutely shocked and thought I would definitely get in. My GPA is a 3.6 unweighted, taking mostly honors and ap classes. I have a 1810 SAT combined and numerous extra curricular activities and service. Does anyone know the chances of being admitted off of the wait list or has anyone heard back yet? I’m freaking out this was a top 2 contender. I’m from south jersey if that helps at all.

My status shows as “We are in the final stages of review and an admissions decision will be posted here in the coming days.” I’ll keep you updated.

Update: I just checked my status and I got in UP. My unweighted GPA is around 3.55 and I have a 1740 combined SAT, with decent ECs. I think choosing as undecided helped me greatly.

@Taylorholli Did you apply undecided? Did you check off summer as an option? If you didn’t and you would consider one of those options, call them and ask them to reconsider you. It has worked for people in the past!
