I have already sent in my housing deposit for PSU but i'm still thinking about attending Rutgers College if I get in. Does anyone know what my chances are of being admitted from the waiting list?

Here are my stats:

NJ resident
3.5 gpa
630 V
590 M

Also, would I still be able to get housing on college ave if I was accepted?

At this point, I don't know how good your chances are, they would be better if it was earlier, but i've already sent in my deposit for housing on college ave, so even if you get in off the waiting list, college ave will probably be full.

im in the same position as you are, except my gpa is about a 3.3. although my SAT scores are about the same. I've taken some honors courses and AP courses but not all of my classes are that rigorous. I got into all the other colleges i applied to at rutgers. do you guys think i have a chance?

I don't know why NJ kids have this notion that PSU is better than RU... they're of equal quality and PSU will cost you double.

Anyway-- nymets, Rutgers College and Livingston College are two different colleges. Rutgers College students generally live on College Ave and Busch Campuses and Livingston College kids live on Livingston campus. They take the same classes and everything, there isn't too much of a difference.

Anyway-- (i'm assuming you're not a HS senior) by the time you apply all the undegraduates arts and sciences college will merge to become Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences. So you don't really need to worry about the differences.

Overrall, I'd say that Rutgers and PSU are roughly comparable, but you really need to look at the strength of the programs you're interested in. PSU is very strong in engineering and business. Not sure about Rutgers. The college environments are also quite different - big campus in the mountains, vs an urban campus. By the way, PSU has quite a few kids from NJ - but I don't see the reverse as much.

Yea... PSU is better than RU in business, but RU is ranked relatively highly for science, engineering, politics, philosophy (#1), and a bunch of other things. I go to rutgers and know a few people from pennsylvania... and even far off lands like virginia, texas, wisconsin, and florida (out of state pop = 10%). Anyway, like you said i would agree that PSU and RU are roughly equal... so therefore I don't see why anyone would pay double to attend a college of equal quality (and that goes for PA kids going to RU too).

The social aspect is a large concern for me which is why i was against Livingston.

However, even if i do decide to attend Rutgers College i feel i will have a small chance of receiving housing on college ave, and i hear busch is equally as bad as livingston (socially).
