After getting upset over rejection from 4/5 schools I applied to, URochester sent me a waitlist letter today. I was incredibly happy when I got it but then realized what it really means. I called the University and asked them how their waitlist policies work, and the man I spoke to told me that IF they have any room for more applicants, they will consider the 3% of the applicants who were waitlisted. He also said that they haven't looked at their waitlisted applications for the past two years, meaning they have been able to fill all of the available space each of those years. I REALLY want to go if I can but hearing that kind of depressed me, although I don't know how the applicant pool has changed this year, considering the economy is in a bit of a rut. Does anyone know how much the applicant pool at URochester has increased or decreased, with respect to percentage? Also, I want to send them some additional things which should definitely help me get accepted should they look at the waitlisted applicants. I just joined the Phi Theta Kappa international honors society, I got a job as a tutor at a community college, and I won 3rd place at a math competition at the same college. How would I send this info to them? Thanks!

Bump…

Send the info to the admissions office ASAP with a heartfelt letter saying why Rochester is your first choice and what talents you can bring to the university.

There’s a thread somewhere about how to get off the waitlist. You might want to search for it.

I am going to send them a letter in which I’ll write about some new stuff I’ve been up to, which would definitely help my chances if they look at the waitlist, but I’m having trouble beginning the letter. I know how to write a business letter or a friendly letter, but how do I start a college letter?
