Waitlisted at Washu in St. Louis and Northwestern, do I have a shot?

How does Johns Hopkins compare with these two schools with regard to admissions?... Johns Hopkins is my last hope and I'm doubting my ability to get in if I was waitlisted at Washu and Northwestern.

This sucks.

yeah, JHU’s stats are a lot lower and acceptance rate higher, so keep your head up! it probably just wasn’t meant to be and JHU is the real thing for u

dont worry man. keep your hopes up. washu is such a crapshoot.

hey, im in the same boat as you..almost…rejected at Northwestern…waitlisted at MIT and WASHU…i hope we can get into jhu

i am crapping in my pants right now…just got rejected the shizzle out of from NU right now…

:/

Same here

I am waitlisted from Washington U and got rejected from Duke.

JHU and Emory are now my last stand.

saaame!

waitlisted at washU and NU, rejected at Rice…

please jhu, please!
g-town too! ahhhh

ccri, JHU’s acceptance rate last year was something like 24% and the mean SAT was in the 2150 range. Are you sure about you’re claim?

Northwestern’s acceptance rate is higher and has comparable SAT averages. Don’t get your hopes up anytime soon.

just some stats:

acceptance rates for WashU, JHU, and Northwestern last year from collegeboard.com:

Wash U: 17%
JHU: 24%
Northwestern: 27%

Northwestern and Wash U have relatively higher SAT medians

JHU’s SAT median is below a 1400
Wash U and Northwestern, however, have SAT medians above 1430

You need to cite your information. Simply taking the midpoint of SAT rages is not sufficient.

collegeboard:

Northwestern: 1350-1520
JHU: 1290-1500

CB is outdated. I didn’t apply to Northwestern so I can’t speak for them, but WashU will waitlist very qualified applicants and then accept them later when their yield is pathetic. That is why their acceptance rate is so “low”. Don’t let WashU be a judgment of you.

its all random.. i mean i hope i get accepted to jhu, but i got waitlisted at northwestern. i got a 2340 on my sats… doesnt really seem to affect anything considering i have yet to get accepted to any college.

sameeee waitlisted at Rice i hope i get into JHU

The statistics being cited are meaningless in terms of trying to predict whether any individual will or won’t be offerered admission. Each school is trying to fill an entire class–which consists of people with different interests, skills and abilities. Since the applicant pools at each school are different–it is impossible to predict individual decisions with any accuracy.

Being waitlisted at those schools means that you are qualified to attend–and also suggests that you’re probably qualified for admission at Hopkins. Unfortunately, being qualified is not enough. Applying to the right school at the right time, plus a little luck, can make all the difference. Good luck.

your very correct with that statement..i can’t agree with u more

I got waitlisted at WashU as well. So I truly hope that JHU would accept me. It’s one of my top choices!!!
