hiiiii guys
as im OVERJOYED to know that im accepted to brown, columbia, duke, washu, and northwestern, and would honestly not be really bothered if i had simply been rejected from harvard and yale...i dont really know what i should do now cuz i dont understand how the waitlist works...
Do i have to give up my chances of going to other schools if i wanna "remain active on the waitlist"?
and is there anything i can do to have a better chance of getting off the waitlist??
thanks guys for any advice!!

I don't know, but the waitlists are supposed to be way larger than they have in the past, so odds are not good. I might move on.

I sincerely hope that you get off the harvard waitlist, so that I may have a better shot at getting off the chicago waitlist.

C'est la vie

you can stay on the waitlist, but pay the deposit at a school you were accepted to. if you get in from the waitlist, you just lose your deposit at the other school. However, i would say forget about yale and harvard, chances from the waitlist are near 0 if not 0

Advice from a parent:

Accepted to five of the best colleges in the country - you do not have a problem; practically nobody is accepted to all of these schools.

What you need to do is very simple - sit down and decide between Brown, Columbia, Duke, Washu, and Northwestern. Think as long and as hard as you can, and decide. They all are great schools, among the tops in this country.

Repeat: you do not have a problem; you have five great solutions. Most of the students here would just LOVE to be in your place. If perchance (and the chances are pretty low) you receive a letter admitting you off a waitlist, you can then consider rethinking your choice. At that time it's quite feasible that you will be happy with your choice and stick with it.
So get to work.
