I read on another thread that UChicago has already started accepting students from the waitlist. Is there any truth to this? I am freaking out; please help.

Isn't it too early for them to start accepting?

I highly doubt it, they don’t even know what their class size looks like yet.

Who said they started accepting people from the waitlist? It would be a mistake as I think they already face the risk of an oversized incoming class with the current number od acceptances, considering that this year’s yield is likely to rise.

Another poster on another thread.

How many students do you believe UChicago will take from the waitlist, if any?

I can not imagine they would have already started accepting students from the WL yet, unless they are getting massive declines from accepted students, well beyond what their algorithm projected and are in panic mode. Extremely highly unlikely. Every school accepts a larger number of students than they need since they know their percentage yield. The person who had posted about it has “heard” that people have started being accepted from the WL. Just relax. Many students who have been accepted from top schools have not even decided yet. Duke has their blue devils event this weekend. Rice has owl this week and another event next week. It is spring break for many NE high schools and will be visiting their accepted schools to evaluate the fit before they make their final decision.
