Waitlisted - Carlson

I was recently accepted to CLA, my second choice after Carlson, and was told that that I’m on the Carlson waitlist.

College: CSOM
Major: Finance
GPA: 3.65 UW/3.74W
9 AP, rest are honors
Class Rank: ~130/490 (Highly competitive school, this was my downfall)
ACT: 33
EC:
DECA (Business Club) for 3 years, president for 1
-Won 1st in marketing management
-Won 1st in Sports and entertainment promotion plan
Junior Achievement (entrepreneurship club) Vice President for 2 years.
-2nd place in carlson regional competition for company of the year
Teen lead representative at non profit organization
-speak at events to raise awareness/donations for underprivelidged children in India.

Really bummed I wasnt admitted to carlson but still hoping people who decide not to go give me a chance to get in from the waitlist. Do you guys think I’m competitive with others who have been waitlisted? Do I have a chance?

You’re competitive even in the admitted pool, I am actually quite surprised that you’re waitlisted!
Hold tight I’m sure you’ll get in.

Are you in or out of state? This could be a small factor.

I’m also pretty surprised as someone who was admitted. Your gpa looks a little low, but your act more than makes up for it. I think it came down to class rank. Must be a competitive high school for you to be that low of a rank with that high of a gpa or your school has extremely high grade inflation. Either way, not much you can do about it. The good news is they didn’t reject you I guess.
