Hey all, this week has been full of surprises and I was hoping I could get a bit of information about the MIT and Pomona Waitlists. I got waitlisted this year for both of them and I am interested in remaining on the list if there is still a decent opportunity. Does anyone have any information that could help me stand out on the list or if I should give up on my chances for regular decision waitlist. I will post my stats if they are needed.

UTD is a top engineering school offering a full ride. That’s superior to MIT any day of the week! You’re graduating debt free. You’re also right in the middle of Dallas which is a hot spot for internships and job opportunities.
I would choose between the ASU Barrett honors and UT-Dallas full ride. Both universities have top-notch engineering schools and will cost way less than MIT. You can save your money for grad school.
Although WashU is an excellent school, their engineering isn’t as well known apart from BME. You would probably have a better opportunity at ASU/UTD or even A&M.
And RPI is a good engineering school as well. You have some good options to choose from.
@Hamurtle Since when was ASU a top notch engineering school? Are you talking about their graduate program because it is average at best for undergrad
Compared to WashU I would think it’s better. Definitely not at an MIT level but it’s a good program and Barrett Honors College is a decent program as well.
Rose-Hulman has one of the best engineering programs for colleges whose highest degree program is a Masters. OP has some good choices and doesn’t need to stress over an MIT waitlist.
@Hamurtle I think OP meant Washington University in St Louis and not Washington State
I know he meant WashU…not WSU/Wazzu. WashU=WUSTL BTW.
@Hamurtle Why do you think ASU has a better program than Washu? It’s basically auto admit and the quality of students is much much lower.
WashU is not known for its engineering programs except for perhaps BME. They are putting in the money on new facilities but it will take a while for it reach national prominence.
I got rejected from Washu anyways so that is out of the running haha. I think the only reason ASU remains in the running for me is because I received the honors program there which is ranked as one of the best honors programs in the nation. However it is also in part because I am from Dallas and seeing somewhere new is what I hoped for in the college process. I am still waiting on Rice, Vanderbilt, Harvard(where I was deferred EA), and Princeton. I am unsure what the future holds but thank you all for your responses and I hope to be able to inform you all when more information arises
