Waitlisted ---Chances

So I was waitlisted at UVA and it was a big disappointment. I have chosen to remain on the waitlist and see what happens. In the meantime, I do have two very good options at BC and University of Miami. I realize each year is different, but last year 288 kids were called off the waitlist to fill the class at UVA - probably about 7% of the class. So I am hoping I have a good shot (35 ACT, 3.9 GPA (4.3 weighted), varsity athlete - 2 sports, 6 APs).

Anyone out there have any suggestions of ways to increase my chances. Can't find anything on the website for a phone number or e-mail of actual Admission Deans - just general office of admission information.

Keep in mind there are 10 distinct wait lists; instate and OOS for CLAS, SEAS, ARCH, NURS, and Kinesiology. They may end up with space available for OOS ARCH and instate CLAS, but if you’re OOS SEAS this doesn’t help.

Good point blueiguana. Thanks

I have also chosen to remain on the waitlist. I was just wondering when we would receive the news if we were given a spot.

I think mid May would be a good estimate

Check Dean Js blog for dates she gave information either stating they were going to the WL or the WL was officially closed in years past and you’ll get an idea of what the dates typically are. There’s a search box on the top right that’s great for this. Each year can be different, especially the date the WL is closed/released, however it will give you a guideline.

Looking at last year…

On May 9 Dean Js blog stated they had begun to make offers.

On Monday, June 11 she posted a letter from Dean Roberts that had gone out Friday (6/8) officially stating the Class of 2016 was full.

The previous year, 2011 Class of 2015, an update was also posted May 9 that waitlist offers were being made. The class was officially complete June 1. Relatively few offers were made that year (check the common data set for specifics) and no SEAS offers were made.

I hope this helps.
