Waitlisted Class and changing major

Hey, so I am waitlisting for Math 10A with Laura Stevens in Centr 101 and third on the waitlist with the discussion of 37 people. Do I have a good chance of getting in? I read a link that 10% of the students in the class usually drop it, but since classes are starting I'm not sure if people would stay in their seats. And yes, I know seats are not guaranteed.

Also, I'm in the pre-chem major and my future plans is to transfer to the impacted pre-bio major. For my chem major I have to take the Math20 series, while for bio I can take either the Math10/20. Is transferring pre-chem to pre-bio difficult? I think math skills is pretty weak so that's why I'm taking Math10A--which sets me off course from my pre-chem requisite. Any opinions on this risk?

To get into Bio, I think you just need a 3.3+ based on what I’ve read and heard. If you’re pretty certain you want to major in Bio (like 70-80% sure) then I would just take the 10 series. Taking 10 series is always a risk but if you’re pretty certain you won’t switch out of Bio and you consider your math weak, then 10 might be a wiser choice

^92faim yeah I , I’m basically 99% sure that I want to get into bio. its just successfuly transferring into the bio major that is freaking me out. cuz the counselor was scaring me that around 350 ppl applied in the spring with only aound 175 spots available in the year! But after much debation I’m just going to shoot for the math 20a or start off with math4c because if I dont get accepted into bio, at least my safety net is chem… even tho the chem/physic classes are harder. thanks 92faim

Plus can do I have a chance successfully transfer to the impacted pre-bio major even if I dont finish all of the bio requisite courses?

There are people that get into impacted bio without completing all the prereqs if you apply during the spring application process. Obviously if you want a higher chance of getting in you’d finish all the prereqs, since priority is given to those who do.

The general process of getting in is to request EBE (which does not require chem7l) and change to your desired major 14 days after being accepted into the department.
