i was trying to sign up for class like a day or two after the window opened and i found out just how fast they fill up. i got waitlisted for 1 sem, 2 lectures, and 2 discussions. i am moving up the waitlist, but i was just wondering if i should sign up for other classes too. i am trying to take writing 39b, econ 20a, and math 2a and i was wondering what i should take if i dont get into those classes. also, i heard that i could just come in on the first day of those classes and i might get let in to class. is that a probability or just a maybe?

From what people told me, being 10th on a waitlist for a lecture or 5th on a waitlist for discussions/labs has a decent possibility of getting in. It's still early in the adjustment period so i suggest you keep waiting. I'm waitlisted in a few sections myself. Good luck to you.

Wow, when I was enrolling there were only about 20 people enrolled in those classes. It's crazy how fast those slots fill up.

But I'm sure many people will drop out of their classes to adjust their schedules and such. Best of luck to both of you. =

what number are you on the waitlists?
I was #50 on the waitlist for this one class and I still got in

i'm 3rd for the writing, 2nd for math discussion (doesnt have a number by the lecture) and i'm 12th for econ lecture and 7th for econ discussion.

one more question, if i pay bills after i sign up for my classes, but i want to wait on the waitlist...do i pay for waitlisted classes? or do i just pay after the schedule is final. and if i do that, i should get in to some classes first while waiting on the waitlist.....right?

You know how enrolling in 12units makes you a full time student? Well, if you're waitlisted on some of them are but all together it's still 12 are you still considered a full time student?

Make sense.

i think heylookitsme is trying to say that if your classes total 12 units, but some of those classes are waitlisted, are you still considered a full time student because of those wailists.

i'm not sure, but i don't think they count, yet, because your watilisted and not officially enrolled. so the units don't add up until your actually enrolled. like i said, i don't know, i wasn't waitlisted, if i'm worng, then correct me.

if i'm waitlisted for all my classes, should i sign up for ones that are open now? or should i just wait for the waitlisted ones. cuz i dont wana show up on the first day of a class i'm waitlisted for, find out i didn't getin, then have no classes to take.

hey xranger, which class did you get into? i'm 38 on a waitlist for chem 1a...i have arasingham but i want farmer, so i just waitlisted today. i should've been smart and waitlisted when i registered...i had a good window too ;_;

it was for my ochem class

What's the average wait for being on a waitlist? x_x I'm still waitlisted for Writing 39b

One of my friends told me that if you're waitlisted, but you're fairly high on the list, just wait till after the due date for fees. People will invariably forget to pay and get dropped from their classes, making space. At least, that's what I'm hoping for my writing class....

For a class size of 23, what are the chances that I will get into the class if I am #1 on the waitlist?

I'm thinking the chances are low, since the less people there are, the less likely that people will forget to pay their fees.

Edit: Also, I noticed that East Asian Languages and Literatures has a max enrollment of 70, but only 1 person on the waitlist. How unusual, how come no one on the waitlist? I see other classes always have so many people on the waitlist. Does this mean that this particular course is that difficult/popular to get into? Or is it just a mere coincidence?

I got into a writing class, which is like 20 something students, having been #1 on the waiting list. So, clearly it's possible, but I don't know what the actual chances are.

how and when do you find out if you got into a waitlisted class?

I believe you get an email at your UCI email address. Or you could simply check webreg.

People need to drop some classes so others who really want them can get in :[.

Yeah, they send an email.

Hopefully, when the deadline to pay your fees comes, some people in the class you want will have forgotten and will get automatically dropped =) I dunno, that's what one of my friends who went here told me tends to happen.

ok. so the deadline's past. i'm guessing everyone in the class im waitlisted class because i'm still number 2 on the list.... is there still a way to get into the lecture, as well as the discussion?
