Waitlisted for Bio w/ spec. in bioinformatics
What can I do from here? I’ve been waitlisted to all the schools I have an interest in going into, should I just go to community?

Sorry about the waitlist to UCSD! In my opinion, I would say probably enroll for community college until waitlist decisions come out in May, and if you get in from the waitlist, wonderful! If not, community college is also a very respectable option, and you could always transfer into a UC school of your choice after two years. There is a stigma surrounding those who go to community college, and there really shouldn’t be, because I really think that it is a good option, especially since transfer acceptance rates are much higher if you’re transferring from a community college.
I know someone who was incredibly qualified, with amazing test scores, that chose to go to community college, and eventually ended up transferring to Harvard. So it really is a good option!
If you’re against the community college route, I would also suggest maybe sending a SIR to one of the other schools you got accepted to that you can tolerate going to. Maybe research the different UC colleges and see which college that you have been accepted to that you may actually end up liking? If not, you could always transfer after 2 years, although transfer acceptance rates from a different UC school are lower than transfer rates from community college, so you might have a better change of acceptance into your top colleges as a transfer student from community college than as a transfer student from a different UC.
Getting off of the waitlist would definitely be the best option, but there are a lot of other people I know who have gotten off the waitlist for UC schools, especially for schools like Davis that have Tuft’s syndrome, so there’s always hope! Good luck!
@AstraeaX Thanks for the reply, I’ll probably wait for Waitlist responses from UCD and UCSD and if I don’t get in, I’ll just go to community for 2 years and transfer. The only thing that’s bothering me is that I would have “wasted 4 years of work”, since nothing really caries over.
