Waitlisted Email?

This is something new. I just received two emails from Wesleyan asking me to respond to the waitlist. Do you think this means they are running short on committed students or that their waitlist is not large enough? Does this mean anything at all? Did they send this to all the students that haven't replied yet?

Last year Wesleyan waitlisted over 2,100 students, with close to 800 accepting a spot on the list and 77 being admitted off the waitlist. I doubt there’s a shortage of waitlisted students. Two emails could be due to a clerical error. I wouldn’t necessarily attribute it to anything, as Wesleyan a) doesn’t rank their waitlist and b) doesn’t know what they “need” to fill out the class, as May 1 has not yet passed. Good luck!

OP, are you sure you actually responded to secure your place on the WL (if you are choosing to)? My S had to open a link to accept a spot on a Yale summer program WL, it was not automatic.
