Waitlisted for a class, What are my chances of getting in?

This is my first time getting waitlisted for any class I’m an Accounting major at the moment and I got waitlisted for an accounting class which has 70 spots for and my waitlist number is 7. What are my chances of getting into the class? and what can I do to get a spot in the class?

Email your advisor and professor. Depending on the school and the department will they maybe able to over ride it if it will hinder your graduation.

Yes, email professor and ask for an over ride. Do it now!

Are you an incoming freshman? Then chances are probably pretty good. Students withdraw, go to another school, change their major, change their minds. If you’re #7 on the list, I’d just wait a bit.

Email your professor! They’ll most likely let you in. If you’re not off waitlist by fall for some reason show up to class and talk to your professor in person about getting a code. That’s usually fool proof.

Email teacher but also show up first few classes
That’s what my two boys have done and they have been able to get into the classes that they were waitlisted on

If no one drops before class starts, try dropping in and sitting in the front row so you are the first to approach the professor as soon as they announce “does anyone needed to be added?” Some professors require students who want to be added on to attend more classes than the first day and some do lottery systems. Good luck.
