I'm currently waitlisted on the 1st spot for a class. How does this work out?

Do u get an email when you get off of the waiting list or can u email the professor and ask about getting into the course?

Both. It doesn’t hurt to email the professor to express your interest. Most likely you’ll be told to go to class on the first day and see what happens. Also, if a spot opens up for you, you will get an email and have a certain amount of time to register for the class.

I would agree with umich8790. The process for getting off the waitlist varies from class to class but it doesn’t hurt to email the prof. If they clear the waitlist you may be limited in the amount of time you have to accept the spot so you should check your email on a regular basis.

I don’t see a need to email the professor until a few weeks before school starts. You’ll most likely not be on the wait-list for too long if you’re only in the first spot. Emailing the professor couldn’t hurt of course.
