Does anyone when waitlisted students hear back? I know it can be up to June 15 (which is ridiculous), but when is the earliest notification date?

Hey! So I was wait listed too, and I have to say it was really surprising. I got into NYU and UCSD which are both more selective, but I guess I just wasn’t what they were looking for. I found on some other site though that of the almost 1400 kids who were wait listed last year, only 4 were admitted to BU. I kind of just took it as a nicer way to reject me.

Well darn! I really hope everything goes well though, I know kids from my school who got in but are all rejecting their offers

bump
anyone have more info?

I am shocked that I got wait listed. Did you all apply for CAS?

I applied to CAS, yes

whats your stats?

My D applied to CAS also but was admitted CGS. Her stats were 1820 sat and 3.7 gpa, not even a very rigorous schedule compared to a lot of the people waitlisted and denied. Must have liked her EC’s and essay. We are going to the info session next week to see was CGS is all about, she’s still really interested.

On the application, you can choose to be considered for admission to CGS if you don’t get into the school you applied to.
I’m assuming that some of the people who were waitlisted and denied said that they didn’t want to be considered for admission to CGS.

My admissions decision did not state that I can be considered for admission to CGS.

@coco, it was on the supplemental form when you applied, there was a box to check whether or not you wanted to be considered for CGS.

my son was waitlisted too at BU and got into way more exclusive schools! We had BU as a mid range or lower reach school, but got into most of the reach ones and waitlisted by them! They need to hire different application readers for their own sake. For our sake i think we’re lucky. BU’s glamor comes from the city being such a college town. It has some fabulous programs but people who know know it’s very uneven and has inflated rep. I’m glad my son doesn’t get to be tempted by the whole Boston vibe when places of greater substance such as Dartmouth, Emory and Bard look at their application pool with a much more focused eye!

^no offense but it sounds like you’re really rationalizing the waitlist for your son. BU looks very holistically at their apps. And inflated rep? Really?

I was waitlisted also My stats were:
GPA: 96 W, 92 UW
SAT: 1920
SAT II: Math I 670 , Math II 700
I have only been in honors classes my entire four years and this year, I’m taking 4 APs. I also have great extracurriculars: 4 years volleyball, coached volleyball to JHS girls at my church, went to South Korea this past summer to teach English, went to New Mexico missions for two years, member of NHS, praise team at church

I was pretty bummed. Can anyone tell me why they think BU waitlisted me? :(

I just declined my offer to BU for Biomedical Engineering today. Hopefully one of you on the waitlist can get in now. I also have to decline Villanova, as I will be going to UConn, which is in state.
