Waitlisted for Fall 2012

I noticed there hasn't been a thread for the waitlisted people, so I decided to start one.

Has anyone heard any news yet? I visited last weekend and asked the admisssions office when I should get my decision and the lady there said I'd find out by the end of April. However, I called in early March and they said I'd find out early April... I'm not really getting explicit answers. I've been checking my UT Direct literally everyday and it has never changed from "Accepted Waitlist Offer."

On a brighter note, I do know that only 300 or so students get waitlisted every year and sometimes a good 90% of the students get accepted.

I am also waitlisted. If you look on the UT website, it clearly states that decisions for waitlisted applicants is posted between May 1st, and May 15th.

-There was a thread for the wait list a while back. Just to let you know.

I’m the one still waiting for the admission. do u guys share your stats and intended major?
I am an international student with 3.81GPA
45 credits complete
1st McCombs
2nd Undergraduate studies
my heart is racing when checking the status.
keep my finger crossed for us.

uhm…Mehrenz you are a transfer applicant. Best of luck to you.

@uthookem
are you not a transfer applicant?

uthookem, where on the site does it say between May 1st and May 15th?

Care to link me?

Scroll down to the paragraph titled “Timeline”.
I’ve known a few friends who were waitlisted, the majority of that group was accepted. Good luck!

Thanks mnaacd, that makes me feel a lot better.

Also, I guess they recently updated that webpage because the Timeline thing wasn’t there awhile ago.

I was waitlisted for the Fall 2012 semester as well, and I haven’t heard anything either. I am going to send in an appeal letter on Monday though because I’m a dual credit student and my high school messed up on my transcripts. They hadn’t been keeping up with it and none of my dual credit was added to the transcripts, so I’m going to write a letter to UT explaining what happened and that it wasn’t my fault. Turns out after my high school fixed everything I actually qualified for automatic admission, so I’m hoping that will have a big effect on the decision they gave me.

I am wait listed for Fall 2012 as well. I have called the admissions representatives, who have said that they have already sent out some acceptances to wait listed students. It is possible that we should hear any day now.

Warlock46 what is your major? And when did you call them?
I’m so anxious! I hope we do hear back something soon!

My major is geosciences! I called them yesterday, I’m really anxious too. I know the process really well because I’ve called and asked them about it so much. What is your major?

Have they said anything as far as how many they anticipate to take from the waitlist? My major is communications.

No they don’t have that information nor do I think they would tell me even if they did have it. But make sure you do have a back-up plan if May 1st rolls around and you haven’t heard from UT yet.

Yeah, I already have plan B waiting. UNT is my second choice but I’m hoping UT pulls through. I thought they weren’t going to have most decisions till May 15?

Yeah, that’s their deadline for wait listed kids to hear back. Some of the admissions representatives said that in a “best case scenario” a good percentage of wait listed students will hear back around May 1st. They are just trying to get out all decisions as soon as possible.

Okay, I see. Thanks for letting me know, I think you’ve been more helpful as far as answering questions than they have! I was looking at the numbers for past years as far as waitlisted kids being accepted and I noticed that last year hardly any were accepted, so I’m crossing my fingers!

Yeah man, no problem! I’ve been doing a lot of research because I really want to go to UT as well. Another fact - about 320 were offered the wait list, and about 2/3 of the people accepted the offer. But as of right now, all we can do is hope! haha

The less people accept the waitlist offer the better! Lol, that’s so mean of me to say, I’m sorry.
If you do get accepted are you planning on staying on or off campus?
What other colleges are you interested in?

I plan on staying on campus if I am accepted. And I had a strong desire to stay in Texas, which limited my options a lot. My other options are Texas A&M, TCU, and CAP (at UTA). I still have no idea which one I’m going to choose if I don’t hear back from UT by May 1st.
