Waitlisted for Spring 2012 classes.

Hi y'all! I'm a sophomore biology major at UT and I'm in a bit of a dilemma.

I accidentally missed the first tuition payment deadline for the Spring 2012 :-/ and as a result, all of the classes that I had registered for during the first registration period have been dropped. I come back during the second registration period to find that every single class that I need to take this semester have a waitlist. These are the classes that I need to take, as well as the current position that I am in on the waitlist for these courses: UGS 303 (5/5), M 408S (16/17), CH 301 (4/9), BIO 311D (11/11). What are the chances that I make it into these classes before the beginning of the semester?

Darn, that really sucks. But those numbers look fairly good. I’ve had luck with much higher waitlists.

What I suggest is that you construct a plan B and register yourself for some alternative classes. Then for each waitlist just but DROP this and ADD that from the wait list - you know that option? Yeah.

The M408S is the one your furthest from so keep your eyes peeled for any openings at different times.

:S

I’m not familiar with M408S but CH301, BIO311D and UGS303 all tend to be larger classes (200ish). I’d be pretty confident about all of those lists moving through by the 2nd week of school. You’ll probably get in to CH301 after the 1st or 2nd day of school because a few people always drop randomly. No promises though, of course, so definitely keep a close eye on things.

If you haven’t registered for more than one wait list for each class, then I would highly recommend that. I believe that you can be on 2 wait lists for the same class simultaneously. If you try to register for another one, it’ll block you rather than adding you to the new one and dropping the older wait list.

Worse come to worse, you can go speak to the professor after class and they’ll occasionally squeeze you in.

Good luck!

Thank you all for the replies! They are definitely reassuring. I checked this morning and I have already gotten into my chemistry course! And I moved up to 10th for Bio, 4th for UGS, and 14th for 408S (I believe it’s a larger course like the rest of them). So yeah, i’m definitely feeling pretty optimistic at this point!
