I really don't know what this means. I did some research and I found out that I might get an offer later, but what are the chances? How do I get off the waitlist? Someone mentioned writing a letter to the admissions office. How would I send it in (I know this sounds trivial, but I live in India, and it is VERY expensive to mail anything to the US)? How do you accept the waitlist offer? Thank you for the help :)

same with me man. I too come from India. I wrote a good essay (according to the people who read it). I had 4.0 gpa and 2320 on my sat + 800 in physics and 800 in math level 2.
I got wait listed .
All i know about wait list is that it will be cleared in may and some of those who have gone through it say that every year around 100-150 students are accepted via wait list. But given that 3000 are wait listed, the chances are always thin.
You should not mail anything as of now. I may have a negative impact (says a friend of mine who got through wait list)

I also an international from India. Got wait listed too. Its back to preparing for the CBSE boards ha ha. Sigh.

Has anyone from Northern California received any info?
