Waitlisted for Undeclared Engineering

I'm really kicking myself in the butt right now because I just realized that UCLA only looks at your primary major choice.. and of course mine was undeclared engineering.

I have a few questions for anyone that would know:
1. How hard is it to get into Undeclared Engineering? Did I screw myself by choosing it?
2. How likely is it that people get off the waitlist when under Undeclared Engineering?
3. And finally, is it difficult to get into a major once you've been admitted?

Any answers would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you all! :D

Not sure about UCLA but for UCB, undeclared engineering is one of the hardest major to be admitted.

Undeclared gets the most applicants of all the Engineering majors. But they’re all pretty tough to get in to, so if your “other” choices were also tough, it probably wouldn’t have made a difference.

It’s hard to say how likely it is to be admitted, since every year is different. It just depends on how many people submit an SIR.

Undeclared Engineers are guaranteed their choice of major as long as they have something like a 2.7 GPA in the math/science courses when they declare.

Yeah… I put undeclared physical science for my second choice so I basically threw away my second pick instead of picking an alternate engineering major. :frowning: It looks like the positive SIR rate for Undeclared is one of the lowest out of any of the categories, so I guess I’ll keep my hope alive for now!

That doesn’t really make a difference. If the SIR rate is low, then that is taken in to account when HSSEAS decides how many of that major to admit.
