So i was wait listed from the EDII option a few minutes ago. I'm kinda bummed, but kinda content that they see potential in me. So, i have a few questions for anyone who has info:

what's the process? Do i need to do anything right now? When will i be notified if they'll accept me or not?

What do u guys (who were waitlisted) think? Ru mad, sad, glad, happy, crying... haha?

overall comments and productive info anyone can shed is really appreciated.

Congrats (kinda). It's not like a rejection, there's still hope!

I also got wait listed. You have to wait until they contact you. Im a mix of mad/sad slash kinda okay with the fact that i can still hear from other places, just to know full options even if this is the only place i want to go…

waitlisted… I just saw the website and it says there’s approximately six hundred to eight hundred waitlisted students each year and they accept none to a hundred students…
and they provide oxford college as an option too…

I’m kinda angry and disappointed right now… I got deferred from michigan early feb and i get waitlisted here… this is harsh

yea, i just looked at the FAQ’s, and it’s not looking too bright. 0-100 out of 600-700 get accepted, that means 0%-17%… That’s about as competitive as an ivy… So do we have to wait around till they send us those emails, or ru guys planning on emailing them saying you’re still interested?

Yea lolzcollege, i know what you mean. Waiting till today to find out my decision was tough enough. waiting till (possibly) june may not be worth it. Plus the acceptance rate is halved from the EDII rate… I should prolly just move on.

I was waitlisted too. In a way, I guess I’m okay with it since I have a shot at other places. Hopefully those will work out for me. I’m probably going to want to know by end of April since most of the other colleges send out decision letters on April 1 and need to know back by May 1, so waiting till June doesn’t make sense. Goodluck to everyone else! And remember - everything happens for a reason

Yea, i’m still debating. i mean it’s gonna be hanging over me for another few months if i do do it, so i have to think about if it’s worth it or not.

You should probably just go ahead with it. I mean, you have nothing to lose. Just give them a date by when you’d like to hear from them and I guess let it be. Do you think that you have a good shot at the other colleges that you’re applying to?

my counselor called the admission person today.
Emory said it just had its biggest number of applicants. (ever).
Yesterday I cried all night. And today I was just seriously angry. @hurryup5, I so agree with you. I was so into Emory until yesterday…
Wait listed… Really? 700 people. Does Emory wait list EVERYONE? And reject only few or something? I am still so mad about this.
Well at least, we get to get responses from other schools in April.
If Emory were to accept us, it is not binding anymore: we can choose.
Let’s think positively. We waited for a month and an half. We can wait 2 more… I guess

My stats are higher than those of some of the accepted guys…
I kinda of have the feeling that Emory is going for applicants who are financially capable of paying the tuition?? I saw it somewhere that UCB is increasing the tuition 20%…
This shows that colleges need the financial support from students more than ever these days…
Just my random thought, speculation…
I live in canada right now and after being waitlisted from emory I think I’ll just go to university here and graduate school in the US…
Way more cheap Anyways good luck to you guys who have been waitlisted I really wish that you guys do get in… GOOD LUCK

thanks hurry up. any bestmemories, i know how u feel. Being waitlisted isn’t a great felling. but you’re right. we either have to think positive, or move on.

This is a definite change from previous years; usually only a couple of people got waitlisted during the EDII round…and everyone else got rejected…

I would assume that this is a result NOT of an increasing # of apps, but rather based on the fact that they were able to get a glimpse of the RD pool and want to get a shot at those kids as well…

Should be an interesting year for RD and for waitlisted candidates…

Just to let you know, Emory calls up the waitlist to get a verbal commitment before making the waitlist offers…i.e. “Would you come if accepted?” If the answer is “no” or “Not sure; need to revisit”, offer is not made…

The number of people accepted off the waitlist is NOT the number of people who are offered an admission; it’s the # of people who committed to attend when asked…

Basically, rodney is saying that Emory does not call the wait listers to say they are accepted. But call to know if the wait listers are still interested in going to Emory.
Emory will contact us between the end of april and end of may. We will get other offers from other universities by then. So Emory wants to know if it is still our top choice.
I think its what rodney tried to say.
