Waitlisted from Wake Forest too?

I was waitlisted by Wake Forest today (March 25th). It is my number one choice and I really hope that I can somehow I can make it off the wait list and become admitted! On the letter I received it said you have about a 20% chance of making it off the wait list. I am a strong student in and outside the classroom but did not submit test scores. I applied ED in November and was deferred in December. Does anyone know when they will notify us their decision about if we are admitted or not?? How many students are on the wait list? Thank you for your reply and I'd really appreciate it! :)

hopefully many prospective students will withdraw their apps!

I’m not staying on it, so hopefully others like me won’t hold up spots that could potentially be given to you!
Best of luck :)

It looks from the reply card like it could take until Aug 1st. I like the wording about staying on the waitlist. DS will not–WFU would be too expensive without aid, and I know there are kids out there who have it as their first choice. (Actually–we’re considering just not being flat-out rejected a moral victory!) Best of luck (but you do know to go ahead and put a deposit in to another school, right?).

I was waitlisted too. I’m not too upset though because Wake Forest wan’t my first choice. Good luck though.

I’m not accepting, so theres one spot :p

i was waitlisted too, but if you want to be accepted from the waitlist i recommend writing the admissions director a letter about wanting to go to WFU and why you would be perfect for their school. im pretty sure schools are supposed to notify you about your waitlist status by june 1st and then after that depending on if people from the waitlist decide to go or not
good luck to you!

deferred and waitlisted too!! ugh it sucks.

Unless my son can get the cost down to about 30k per year, he’s likely headed to UNC.

also will not be accepting spot if money doesn’t show up! So don’t give up if waitlisted and really want to go.

wait listed

wat was ur stats?

I was rather surprised that I was waitlisted, and a few people have mentioned that perhaps Wake Forest has “Tufts syndrome” this year. I spent quite a lot of time on my essays, in fact several days to a week per supplement. WFU wasn’t very high on my list of choices, but it was still frustrating to be waitlisted when I put so much effort into my application.

I haven’t decided if I will remain on the waitlist yet. I have to talk to my counselor first, I think. I have been a bit discouraged by the school however after reading some posts on this forum regarding racist students, but it’s hard to gauge if the things stated are true afterall.

oh well! good luck to those of you who were also waitlisted!

toujours - my son is a very happy sophomore at Wake and it distresses me to see a few unhappy kids perpetuating the statement that Wake Forest is racist. My son, who is Jewish, has not experienced this at all. Obviously I cannot speak for every student and what they have experienced and I imagine you will find a few racist students at any school - but overall - that certainly has not been his experience.

who got accepted/waitlisted at wake and isn’t attending or going on the waitlist?

My son was wait listed too.
ACT 32
3.75/4
740 Math SAT ll, 700 Physics
4 yr Varsity golf- 2 yr captain
Excellent recommendations
Lots of extras
Not sure what they want

I would hate to choose the ones that get the invite. My son is a sharp kid, but from what I’ve been reading, his resume’ is similar to the ones that got wait listed. Since Wake is private I don’t know if being from North Carolina makes a difference. I told my son that I think what really has helped him is the online transfer classes he has taken through the community college. It might be he’s being looked upon as if he were a transfer student.

My D was accepted, but it’s not high on her list. Not sure what schools look for, I think it’s
a crap shoot. Her stats: 31 ACT, 3.74 GPA (unweighted), but great EC’s and many AP classes.

Stats of Waitlisted?

do they start giving spots to those wait listed beginning soon after May 1st? Or before that point?
