On my caller ID I noticed I got a call with a 617 area code from Harvard; I missed it though and when I called back, I never got a response (probably because it was past 5pm eastern time). Is a phone call a good sign, or do they also call those who they ultimately reject from the waitlist?
@triacontahedron DEFINITELY a good sign. Call them back again
Hope they continue to call tomorrow.
Since they sent out acceptances today, will they start with the rejections tomorrow? Or, will they continue with more acceptances? How has it been with the previous years?
Thanks for all the congrats and information, everyone! @GodisGood2018 My admissions officer told me Iād be getting an official email on Wednesday, so I have until next Wednesday to decide. @wsipe00 My portal hasnāt been updated yet.
do you think thereās calls for international applicants cause of international calling fees?
Thanks and congrats!
@Dragon1231111 Harvard over Columbia Engineering for sure. Congrats again!
^ disagree Harvardās engineering department is nonexistent compared to Columbia, but both great choices regardless
@Junior010 - interesting. Please expand thoughts!
Did those that heard back hear back before 5 p.m EST?
@chanrooster Columbia has a SEAS school for undergrad whereas Harvard has no such, ranking wise Columbia ranks higher than Harvard for engineering, also Columbias location in NYC makes it top for engineering/tech opportunities of course Boston is great and Harvard students have access to MIT resources
Harvard does have a SEAS school for undergrad:

I have been to their building on campus.
Congratulations @Dragon1231111! My son had the same choice a year ago, Harvard vs. Columbia, and he chose Harvard. He just finished his freshman year and is leaning towards concentrating in biomedical engineering and premed. I just got back from visiting him and we talked about this very topic. Though he felt he couldāve been happy at either school he is very happy with his choice.
Actually @Junior010, it is Harvard that has the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) whereas Columbia has the FU Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Harvard is currently updating their science and engineering facilities and building a new $1 billion science and engineering complex that will be completed when @Dragon1231111 begins their junior year.

Both universities have excellent engineering programs yet the curriculum and culture of these two schools are very different. We had various interactions with each school which contributed greatly to my sonās decision. Now that I am at the required 15 posts I will PM you @Dragon1231111 and give you the specifics of those interactions that will possibly give you some insight in picking the school that is right for you. You have two great choices!
@Dragon1231111 @peonyplant @fishsticks4 @triacontahedron
Could you guys tell your profile to us?
Including gender, race, state that you grew up, income level, extra curricular, gpa, sat score, applied major, etcā¦
Thanks and congratulations on your achievements!
Still no yield numbers ā¦ STRANGE
looks like tomorrow
@taylorharry I got a call around 2 pm
Anyone else hear back?
They may have to hold off until next week, or at least until they learn if all the first wait list offers made yesterday have accepted.
