The email said they “typically don’t meet more than 30% of OOS need”. They met exactly 30% of my 21k~ need. My parents make 110-150k a year and my sister is currently enrolled in college so they’re going to try to get their finances straight to be able to help me. It won’t be easy for me.

@Decimation Sorry about that! So, I assume that 30% are just loans. Am I right? Any grants?

Any get any offers since Wednesday? I think they will make more after May 1. Maybe not.

Late to this post, but I’m an OSS majoring in Computer Science with a 3.47 UW GPA, 4 AP’s (2 4’s and 2 5’s) 32 ACT with a 35 on Math, 32 on Reading, and a 31 on English with an 8 on the Essay. I’ve got quite a lot of extra-curricular activities (I run three clubs and have over 100 service hours). I was deferred during EA, and wait-listed during RD. Wish everyone else on the wait list the best of luck.

My daughter just got email…she has been offered admission to Georgia Tech!

@tookie411 congratulations!! Are you instate or OOS.

@tookie411 wow! I hope I get one. Can you tell what you did after being waitlisted and if you don’t mind your stats. Thanks!

She is instate. She had been deferred, then waitlisted…she has 2 days to decide what to do!

@tookie411 awesome! congrats. Did you do anything after being waitlisted?

agg999…all she did was accept her place on waitlist. Her overall GPA was what did her in for regular decision…only a 3.5. She has 7 AP classes; 31 overall ACT; SAT Math 760, Reading 690; Writing 670.She had a strong essay and excellent extra curricular activities.

About two hours ago, GT Office of Undergraduate Admission posted on their FB page something like, “2700 students graduated from Georgia Tech and 2750 are in the incoming class.” I am thinking that perhaps there is a 50 student buffer for the class of 2018, and unfortunately there may not be too many more coming off the wait list. Something to check out, at any rate.

I guess this is it! I don’t think there is any more hope. Good luck everyone.

I don’t know about that is says this on the website:

When will students on the wait list know if they will be offered admission?
Students will be contacted by phone and email as soon as we know space is available (typically throughout the month of May). Our goal is to finalize our freshman class by June 1.

Well, they haven’t even mentioned anything about waitlist candidates on social media. Plus GA Tech is ignoring al the questions about waitlist on FB and answering all other questions. It is pretty obvious that they are not going to take in too many anymore. That is probably the reason they had an early waitlist call 1 week before may 1. They prob. don’t have too many spots.

Why GA Tech being sooo silent. Can’t they at least let their waitlist students know that they are not gong to take in anymore? Every year they have mentioned something on their twitter page. This time nothing; this is so rude. Can someone else contact their counselor and check. I wrote an e-mail and they don’t even respond to it. I don’t get it.

I just called them. They are still processing the waitlist.

@GTalum1990 oh cool. Is that all they said? Do you know when they are going to start making offers?

My D decided not to attend GT after getting in - hope you get her spot

I specifically asked “are you still processing the waitlist” and the person said “yes.” I mentioned the confusion over the recent tweets, and she didn’t want to say much about it. Best I could gather is that it was intended as a congratulations to the graduating class and a circle-of-life thing.

Doing the math, even if they were to let 1,000 people in, that would only be an average of 30 or so each day. That’s a pretty small number, and there’s not really any reason to expect that any of those 30 would bother to respond to this thread.

Normallly they tweet once they are offering people spots off the waitlist in May. But this year they aren’t even talking about it nor did they mention how many people accepted the spot by May 1. So that just got me curious.
