Waitlisted OOS, how to cope?

1520 SAT, 34 ACT, 3.95 UW, 4.5 W GPA, average ECs, strong essays and recommendations. I am feeling really disappointed right now even though I expected a rejection, any advice? UNC was my first choice :frowning:

If you were expecting a rejection, then wait list is positive. Glass half full and all. Hang in there.

@tpike12 Well I told myself I was expecting a rejection, but I don’t think I prepared properly. Inside I had this sense that I would get in, and reading that “Thank you…” email like pulled me down to earth.

You have great stats, I imagine many colleges would be very pleased to have you in their student body.

Thanks :), yeah hopefully i get into some other top colleges.

Last couple of years, less than five students got off the waitlist. As you might already know, it’s completely random- they just pick a name, so there’s not “line” for WL. I’m sorry you’re disappointed, and Good Luck!

Although I am in-state I got waitlisted as well. I’m not entirely too sure it’s lottery and honest to God hope its not but I wish the best for you!

@xannyphantom Thanks  Good luck to you as well, yeah I am just so disappointed since my mind was kinda hoping for an acceptance (as does everyone’s lol).

@homeschoolftw yeah and in addition I’ve been reading the UNC forums and suprisingly, a lot of highly qualified people (both in and out of state) are getting waitlisted/rejected. I think that this year was highly competitive.

Yeah, it really sucks. I think every year in general is just getting more competitive, it really stinks. Like who even got in OOS??
