Waitlisted people unite!

If you were waitlisted, do you plan to reserve a spot on the waitlist?

Does anyone know how many people were accepted from the waitlist last year?

I got waitlisted too.

I'm not even messing around with it..... even if I were to be taken off it, I might not even get any aid... which I need rather desperately (my mom makes 40k a year). Man, this sucks.

Is there any reason not to go on the waitlist?

if you've already gotten into a college of your choice

i got WL'ed

any speculation welcome: if you're accepted from the waitlist, does the "100% need met" aid policy still apply?

I'm waitlisted.

I got waitlisted. poo. this gives me no hope for my other colleges.

'if you're accepted from the waitlist, does the "100% need met" aid policy still apply'

no.

'Is there any reason not to go on the waitlist?'
yea, many reaons.
1. you got into school of your choice.
2. it could potentially be another blow to the ego
3. you find out well past may 1, when you have sent deposit to another school
4. you're done with the college process and don't have be unsure of where you'll be attending all the way to june 20th.

edit: i really doubt they will be taking a lot of kids off waitlist this year. why add another stress to your life unless nu is CLEARLY your top choice to attend.

does NU waitlist a lot of ppl?

no. everyone who weren't accepted were rejectd at my school except 2.

anecdotal evidence doesn't help. common data set says they waitlist over 1000.

3 of 5 years, they accepted 11 or less people off the waitlist. That's not encouraging. I'm not joining the wait list.

But the data also show that NU took 150 from the WL a couple of years ago.

This is the third school I've been waitlisted at and I have no desire to stay on any of the lists. NU apparently does not think that I fit in, so I'd much rather go to a school that does. College is what you make of it, and you can have a great time anywhere you go.

bummer. now im just gonna have to go to USC and sit in the sun in California and hang out in Hollywood and graduate from Annenberg and NOT get snowed into my dorm room all winter long and go to parties and have fun. WHY, NORTHWESTERN, WHYYYY???? PLEASE LET ME GIVE YOU LOTS OF MONEY SO I CAN SPEND FOUR YEARS OF MY LIFE HAVING NO FUN! DONT MAKE ME GO TO USC!

to those who are putting themselves on the waitlist: is anyone else uncomfortable sending that card in with your SS number right on the outside? Is there another way to do it?

You don't need to put SSN on the card, even if there's a space...If you're on the WL, they'll figure out how to find your file pretty easily w/o it, I bet!

I'm on the waitlist too... I got waitlisted at 5 schools! I think I set some kind of record, hehe. I'm definitely gonna stay on the waitlist....besides staying on it can't hurt you, only help. in the mean time I'm thinking I'm gonna commit to....berkeley??

Is it true that you cannot get deferred in the ED round? I heard somewhere that they either accept or regect.
