I’m very surprised that I was waitlisted from SAS today. For months they kept opening my file but never made a decision until today. I was accepted to penn state and Binghamton so far. My SAT score is a 1780 and my GPA is a 3.7. I had a lot of extracurriculars, leadership positions, and a great essay. Other people in my high school got in with lower SATS and stats… Is there any way I could get off the waiting list before May 1st? This is one of my top schools.
Same boat as you. Does anyone know if i can accept my sebs offer while waiting to see if i get off the waitlist for sas? Or do I just have to wait and not accept anything
Same I got waitlisted also
katyw0ng, Nice that you are holding an offer to Penn State tho. Great school and great option if Rutgers doesn’t come through for you. But consider that some schools wait list the students they don’t think are likely to come-either because they have not shown interest or because they have scores and grades that are above those that usually end up accepting their offers. Rutgers yield is middling for state schools (about 33%) so they may try to keep it from getting lower using the strategy of waiting listing students and then extending offers to those who show signs that they would accept an offer if one was extended. If that is the case, and if you know you want to attend, then a letter of continued interest and even the promise of accepting an offer (if true) if extended might help get you off the wait list.
