If they notified people today, think my ship has sailed. You’re stats are impressive–I can understand why Pomona would want you. Congrats!
Thank you! Now let’s just hope they don’t take back their offer after seeing my second semester grades…
Don’t lose hope. Only some of the waitlisted—>admitted students were notified because their admissions counselor called them. There are several whom were also admitted and were not called. Pomona will mail out acceptance letters in the start of next week. If you don’t get one of those, you didn’t make the first round of waitlist acceptances, but there might be more rounds depending on how many of the first round enrolls.
(No, I don’t know the # that were accepted from the first waitlist round/what the class size is looking to be)
Hey guys I got off the waitlist yesterday too after I received a call from my admissions officer! But, that’s not the point of this post. I just wanted it to be known that each and everyone of you are very intellectual people for making it this far in the college admissions process. No matter the end result of where you end up or what you do for the next four years of your life, I can expect great things to come from all of you! Nonetheless, dont lose hope on being accepted into Pomona! Personally, I really do not have the best GPA, ACT scores, or anything spectacular about my application. Frankly I’m still in shock on why I was admitted seeing that I am considered an international student, my chances seemed very slim for acceptance. I hope to check this thread soon and see more news of acceptances off the waitlist from people. Good luck everyone!
Hello, first time posting. My D is on the waiting list. She got a missed called from Pomona today at 4:15 pacific time.
When she called back, the office was closed. She received an email from the admissions officer alerting her to call them back. We are hopeful that this is a good sign. Does Pomona contact waitlist applicants to notify them of rejections? Please say No. I have never looked forward to a Monday before!
Hi @ale1amigo, congrats! Could you tell us where you’re from, your stats and what you wrote to the admissions office while you were on the waitlist?
@booboojr, they don’t normally call to notify candidates of rejections. A call means an acceptance most probably!
Yes you are 97 percent going to be accepted off the waitlist! Congratulations!
Hey @sharma123 I would be glad to give a brief background on myself. I was originally was born in Mexico, but now I possess DACA status. My GPA is 4.62 and my ACT 28. I am an IB Diploma Candidate along with taking AP Calculus AB this year. While I was on the waiting list I wrote a letter to the admissions office expressing my continued interests in Pomona and how it is my first choice school. I mentioned my personal and professional goals of what I hoped to accomplish if accepted into Pomona. Lastly, I just updated them with my recent accomplishments and awards that I got since submitting my application back in January.
@booboojr This sounds very promising to be an offer off the waitlist, if they want her to call back! Best wishes for your daughter!
Thank you everyone for your feedbacks. We hope that she gets the good news on Monday! She was all set for another school but to be on the cusp of getting an offer (crossing fingers) is beyond our daughter’s wildest dreams. Can she ask for a delay on her decision until we read over the financial aid offer? Regardless, we will find a way to send our daughter to Pomona. Congratulations to everyone else that are either going to Pomona or other schools! This is the beginning of the journey for the college bound students!
Is there any update on whether Pomona has been using its waitlist? If yes, how many students are they going to admit? It’s been quiet for a while nowm
@sharma123, yes, Pomona has been using its waitlist. Several students, including myself, have been admitted off it. I think most everyone who has been admitted has been notified/had their application status updated. I am not sure how many Pomona plans to take from the waitlist, but since no one here has posted that they’ve been straight up denied, I’m guessing in the next few days, if their class is not filled, they will send out a second round of acceptances.
And if their class IS filled by then, they will probably send out rejections. (I was give until the 15th to commit, so I assume it’s the same for the others who were taken off the waitlist as well!)
My D received the official acceptance letter on Tuesday and will have to make a decision no later by next Tuesday! Exciting and nervous times for our family and to think we thought we were all done on May 1st!
Exciting indeed! Congratulations to your D (and the rest of the family!)
Any new information? Anyone called recently?
Emailed admissions officer. They are currently making offers and it could be several weeks until the class is complete.
I got accepted!! Very very excited. Giving up $32k in scholarships to go to Pomona. Apologies to all of you still waiting, but I’m taking this spot.
Congratulations! I think i can speak on behalf of others waitlisted that it’s great to see people really passionate about Pomona filling these spots.
Just out of curiosity, was it your regional officer that contacted you about the decision?
Congrats! Did you write them a letter f interest!?
