My son got waitlisted at Skidmore (his first choice) and Middlebury, He was accepted at BU, Fordham and Emerson. Liked Fordham a lot, haven't even seen BU or Emerson yet. Going next week. His main interests are theatre, english, writing. He can't decide if he should remain on the waitlist for Middlebury because he's not sure the theatre department is as strong as Skidmore and the others. Midd seems to be more academically challenging which can be either good or bad! He doesn't know if he will major in theatre or writing or what. Any opinions?

You might want to take this question to the Theater/Drama Majors Forum. It is inside the College Majors Forum. Here is a quick link for you: [Theater/Drama Majors - College Confidential](Theater/Drama Majors - College Confidential Forums)

Thanks for the tip. I’m new to this site and not quite sure how it all works. Since he’s interested in both theatre and english I wasn’t sure exactly where to post.

Emerson would be the best choice based on his career interests. Did he audition at Fordham?

No, he didn’t audition because he’s not planning to go for BFA. He would like a strong theatre department and be involved but not necessarily have that be his major. He applied to Middlebury because of its strong writing and english programs but would really also like to have a good theatre program as well and he’s not getting the feeling that Midd’s theatre is strong enough. Plus, having been waitlisted there he’s wondering, based on all of that, whether or not he should just let Middlebury go. Academically it’s the strongest school of all of the ones he applied to so that’s a big consideration in deciding whether to remain on the wait list. Crunch time!
