What's the whole process? Do I get the decision before May 1st or after? If it is after, what happens cause we all know decisions have to be made by then.

You are supposed to submit a deposit somewhere else. After May 1, they see how many students accept their offer, and if it's too few, they take kids from the waitlist.

so we tell the other college that we don't want to go there anymore?

basically.......the college will tell you themselves when they'll let you know your finaly decision.....so ask the college!!

Usually it is after May1. By then you should have already made a deposit to another college and start gettin ready to go there, just in case you're rejected from the waitlist.
You shouldn't take chances on this one!

So.... after you get into a school from waitlist after may first and you've sent in the deposit to another school... how do you un-enroll from the one you sent the statement of intent and everything to?

If you put a deposit down on one college and then are accepted off of the waitlist to a second college, you just send a letter to the first college that you no longer intend to enroll. Putting a deposit down is not binding.

Yea deposit just means you lose that money if u choose to not go.

yes. you do.

deposits aren't usually more than a couple of hundred dollars, and some schools don't even require one (like the one i'm at now didn't).

Being waitlisted is horrible. It really just extends the admissions process another two months (unless you got into another great school).
