Hey guys, I didn't see any threads specifically started for waitlisted applicants, so I thought I'd start one to exchange FAQs about the process. Stanford's yield dropped, as far as I know, from 72% - 70% from 2008-2009. The article below talks a little about how Stanford used the waitlist more because they overenrolled in previous years - any predictions as to whether this trend will continue, allowing a decent number of students off the waitlist again? I'm crossing my fingers, but remaining realistic (and getting excited about my other options!).

Stanford announces 70 percent yield for Class of 2013 | Stanford Daily

Since I can empathize with the waitlisters, as I was one, here are some numbers to crunch.

[Admit rate drops to 7.2 percent | Stanford Daily](http://www.stanforddaily.com/2010/03/29/admit-rate-drops-to-7-2-percent/)

The exact number of applicants is 32022. 32022 * .072 = 2305 acceptances.

If we assume last years yield 2305 * .7 = 1614 projected matriculations.

There are 1694 freshmen in the class of '13.

Are you seeing what I am seeing? At the same time though, it might be bad for you to realize this. I completely put Stanford out of my mind and then I was pretty shocked when I got an email saying I was accepted. Just pretend Stanford does not exist for now.
